Far Cry 2: Developers Video
ReclusiveSpirit | 3:19 PM on 05.07.2008 2 comments

Far Cry 2 is one of those games that has been on my long range radar for quite some time. I haven't heard much about it lately, so any time I do find some new info, my interest get's peaked all over again.

Here's what I know so far. Obviously, a sequel to Far Cry...but instead of being made by Crytek, it's being done by Ubisoft. The PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 editions will be released simultaneously.

Ubisoft has created a new engine for the game called Dunia, which means "earth" or "world" in Persian, and also means basically the same thing in many other languages. This engine will utilize to it's advantage multicore processors and support both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10.

Far Cry 2 will also support a technology called Ambx. And no, I'm not sure if that means anything in Persian...very funny. But this technology (With the proper Hardware) will add effects like ambient colored lights, fans that generate wind effects, and enhanced vibration effects. That's what she said.

Sorry for all the tech-speak. I'm just very nerdy for this sort of stuff. About the video itself. I found it to be interesting. I'm also a geek for developers talking about their latest and greatest stuff. So they hit the jackpot with me on this one.

Warning: Guys with face stubble talking about their video game.

From the looks of it, this game is gonna be a visual tour de force. Here's hoping there's some great gameplay and story to go with it.
