I notice that you preface your annoyance by saying that you're not upset about it being released on a last gen console, but then, two short paragraphs later, berate the company for releasing it on a last-gen console.
I'm enjoying Persona 3, and that's even with the sub-PS2 graphics for the dungeons. I think they're not moving up to the PS3 because a: the development costs for PS3 titles are ridiculously high, and the Persona games are the very definition of niche and b: the 100 million PS2s sold are still getting played, and smarter games manufacturers aren't ignoring this.
wait...so what happen to not caring what system it's on?
seriously if it was moved onto the PS3, it'd be higher graphics, and maybe more stuff to do. But i'm sure it'd just be better graphics.
and seriously you're tired of the same ole look? I hope you don't say that and then turn around saying you play Final Fantasy cause you just made a big hypocryte of yourself there.
I personally look forward to it. I personally don't care if its the same artwork. I didn't hear people complaining when FF 7 and 8 had the same artist doing the game.
oh and lets just not forget that Japan keep their last gen systems living hard and long. The Dreamcast proved that alone. Which is probably another reason they're in no rush to get into the Next Gen scene.
Your tired of the same old stuff yet your going to buy FES which is bascially the same game with some extras? Hypocrite much?
Also Persona 3 is not the first game in the Persona series I think you'll find that was Revelations: Persona on the PS1. The 3 is a bit of a give away.
wow did THIS come outta left field! of course, we won't see it in the states for at least a year, but them's the breaks.
surprised to hear it's on the PS2, but not that saddened by the news. P3 managed to look pretty damn good, and this looks equally as good. and hey, last-gen system = cheaper price point.
now, as for the characters... i'm a little disappointed. they all just look like reskins of P3 characters. the whole game sorta does. i mean i love the art style but... wow. oh, and can we have more hotties like Mitsuru and Yukari plz? kthnx.
I missed out completely on Persona 3 and am doomed to remain that way thanks to the miserable pieces of shit that snatch up a half dozen copies just to hawk them on ebay at a 30% markup. Hopefully I won't suffer the same fate with P4.
Hmmm, in 3 years time when this comes out in the UK (if it comes out in the UK) I'll make up my mind. I'll remain indifferent for now though, even though Persona 4 was about as likely to come out as Halo 3.
@Koobert:
He's saying he doesn't mind FES being on PS2 but doesn't like a whole new persona installment being on "a last gen system"
@Shin Oni:
Come on FF7 and 8 may have had the same artist but they have completely different looks! and having the same look is fine as long as they don't look nearly identical.
I loved Persona 3, it was my personal game of the year last year and I'm really looking forward to FES but I too am disappointed by P4 being on a PS2 and looking pretty much identical to P3 just with different characters... Don't get me wrong I'm still excited about the game it just doesn't look like they've tried to do much different with the series from these screens... I guess we'll have to wait for more info to see how awesome this will really be...
I made a funny noise when I saw this...
It looks like just more of the same, but I don't
think I mind.
Persona 5 will be on 360 no doubt about it
I'm hoping P4 has 7% more japanese hip hop?
Anyways, this is very good news. Usually Atlus takes forever in putting out any sort of sequel but not only are we getting FES but now a possibility of P4.
FUCK YES woot. I am glad it is in the P3 art style the most. And atlus is smart by releasing the game on ps2, bigger fanbase bigger installed base, and the games were never meant to be about graphics so good for them. This game will be filled with greatness. These are the times I wish my japanese was better.
I guess I deserve the criticism, I suppose trying to get this blog finish in 5 minutes at 4:30 am was a bad idea.
I didn't mean to come off as a hypocrite. a co-worker has also pointed out that since turning 29 I've grown very bitter twords gaming..I dunno, lol
but i pretty much agree with Nordstrom's statement,
Am I upset it's not on a PS3? YES
Do i mind that it's on a Ps2 NO
As I said already, when details emerge, I'll probably grow a lil more interested, as of right now i don't want a P4. when I say "looks the same" I don't mean graphically. I meant the game as a whole. thats why I would like to know more about what this game is bringing to the table.
Thank god it wont be out for at least 4Q 2009
By then I'll probably be begging for a good RPG regardless if its the same old same old.
