From My interactions and training with F2 fight team Englewood, Florida. I have hung out with and talked to the silverback on numerous occasions. I wouldn't say we are good friends, but definatley acquaintences that have gotten drunk and got stupid with. so Here's the story....
Seth was scheduled to fight tonight with some jabrone on EliteXC on CBS tonight. He was on the card with the Kimbo Slice/Ken Shamrock main event. Ken Shamrock suffered a cut over his left eye during training, and had to back out. The propmoters asked the guy that Seth was fighting if he wanted to fight Kimbo. He said no. They then asked Seth, and he agreed.
Main event: Seth Petruzelli TKO's Kimbo in 10 seconds of the 1st round!!!!!!
We were jumping around and screaming like little girls!! This has been the top 10 nights of my life!!!!!
I'm not sure if this matters that much to my D-toid bretheren, but you guys are my internet family and I had to let you guys know.
I was upset over Shamrock fighting him, because it was oing to be more of the same. Putting Kimbo up against a strawman. Shamrock has a glass jaw. This was a total shock. I walked in the door of my buddy's house and they told me the news. I was amped up the whole event. When it finally started, we all stood up and started jumping. I swear I almost had a heart attack.
I'm not really a big MMA fan, but I happened to check that out tonight. It's pretty awesome that it was your buddy who ended up beating his ass. So he's like...famous now or something? Join his entourage.
Never in all my days did I expect to have an MMA fight spoiled at Dtoid. This is a momentous occasion!
Oh, and Kimbo sucks.
That's pretty cool that Seth got the opportunity, although I'm sure Brett Rogers is mad that he didn't get to burst the Kimbo bubble. I actually picked up some more MMA DVD's recently and have been watching TUF 2 again lately, so it'll be cool to see how Seth has gotten better...well, for 10 seconds, at least.
Ten seconds? I'd have expected more from Kimbo, really. I saw that video where he punched some guy's eyeball right outta his skull, you come to expect more from a guy with that kind of punch, you know?
