So I really wish that I would have posted this before the weekend, but I didn't so whoever misses this is totally going to miss the fuck out.



This Sunday, April 5th marks the first (of many to come) "Street Fighter Bar Fights". It's kind of a new idea that the Street Fighter community as a whole is trying, in essence to try to take Street Fighter to the next level. It's gonna be a bunch of exhibition "dream matches" between some of the best players in the US. It's being put together by one of the hardest working dudes in the SF community, Ryan "Gootecks" Guttierez. He's somewhat of a legend around these parts. He does a Street Fighter podcast where he interviews some of the top players and gets an in depth look at what the community is all about. But that's another story.

It sounds like it's gonna be a a really fucking sweet event, and it's going to feature some of the biggest names in Southern California Street Fighter 4 going at it in what are sure to be some fucking epic exhibition matches. Here's an excerpt from the e-mail that Gootecks sent out to all subscribers..

"THIS IS NOT A TOURNAMENT! Tournaments have their place. I'm trying to take Street Fighter 4 to the masses by invading a place that the masses frequent: a bar! I figure that rather than try to get casual players and Street Fighter fans to go to a tournament, it would be better to go to them and put on a great show."

He also made a video that you guys should definately check out because it details the event WAY better than I could, and show's off the place where this shit's going down. At first most of you probably won't know who the fuck he's talking about in the begining, but believe me when I say these dudes participating are SICK and you can youtube search any of them and find some fuckin gold.



Now I know at first it sounds wierd just going to go watch people play Street Fighter, but I think he said it best when he says that they're there to put on a great show. I know I'm not the only one here who's been to any kind of tournament for any fighting game, be it Street Fighter or Smash or whatever, but you all know that watching two high level players go at it any any game is always a fucking blast and shit gets WAY HYPE. Especially at a fucking bar? This shit's gonna be so fun.

Aside from all the Street Fighting going on, there's gonna be a couple contests and things going on for everyone to participate in. I'll go ahead and copy pasta the contests n stuff..

Trial Mode Contests
In between matches, we’re going to have Trial Mode contests, where if you can do certain trial mode combos in 3 tries or less, you’ll win a prize! So far, we have 3 Chun Li statues straight from Capcom to give away. These are the coveted Chun Li statues that were given away at the launch party last month.
