If you're anything like me, at one point in your gaming life, you stood in line just too nab a reservation for Nintendo's little gadget, the Wii. It was 2006, and the Nintendo gaming community was vibrant and full with life. We all thought Nintendo had finally learned their lesson, and they were back on the right track. I for one was pretty excited, so excited that I joined the Wii.tv staff and produce the video above. Look how excited everyone is, how confident we all were in Nintendo.
I thought it would be a good idea to show the big contrast between then and now. Try to not to reach out to your monitors just to feel the warm glow of what "could've been".
I love the Wii. Nintendo has been disappointed me a few times now, but I still think people get down on the wii so much they overlook the great games and features it has.
Great games? What's left guys? After Animal Crossing? Their trusty franchises have run dry? What's left for 09? Sequels to Wii Sports and Wii Fit? Arg...

Honestly, I don't know why there is so much hate for the Wii. I loved playing Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess, and I can't wait to find time to replay them. When Twilight Princess launched with the Wii, beat the game in 60 hours over 4 days, and loved it. After Virtual Console got spruced up, things got even better.
Overall, the Wii has not disappointed me, I think maybe expectations were just set unrealistically high. It just seems popular to hate. I remember initially being disappointed with the 360, and now it's my favorite system.
Ugh, are people still talking about how much the Wii supposedly sucks?
The Wii is a great system. There are a ton of crap games on it, but that doesn't mean that's all that's on it. I personally have more games that I play for the Wii than anything else right now, and 2009 is definitely Nintendo's year again. What's left for 2009? Wii Sports 2 with MotionPlus, Madworld, Monster Hunter 3, Fatal Frame IV, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Sin & Punishment 2, The Conduit, and who knows what else.
And as for the people who still complain about how the Wii couldn't do exact 1:1 motion right out of the box, that needs to stop. Nintendo never once said that it would follow every single movement exactly. Now, if MotionPlus doesn't work, then we can be mad. But they never advertised the console as having perfect movement right away.
A little bit of a pessimist aren't you? I love my Wii and have honestly been playing it constantly since I got it, day one. Virtual Console is incredible and Nintendo have put some of the best 1st party games around on it. I've enjoyed their efforts on Wii more than the cube to be honest. Metroid Prime 3 was even more inventive than the previous two (mostly due to the controller.), Galaxy is leagues above Sunshine (and even 64 in my opinion) and Twilight Princess, though it lacked the awesome style definitely had fewer flaws than Windwaker. Don't forget about Mario Kart either. Also, I can't help but think that your being more than a little ignorant in saying that Nintendo's franchises have been exhausted. There hasn't been a real Wii Zelda yet, that is definitely coming. Pikmin 3, Punch-Out is coming, Kirby is coming, Fatal Frame 4. And those are just 1st party franchises we know about. Also, Sin and Punishment 2, Klonoa, MadWorld, The Conduit, Trace Memory...
Fragile!
Sure, Gears of Resistance 4: The Gunnening isn't coming to the Wii but to say that there is nothing on the Wii is quite ignorant. Whats passed was legendary and whats coming looks promising.
Sorry theres no HD for you. Get over it and play some good games.
