Remake of Quest for Glory II Trial By Fire!
Purringturtle | 8:20 PM on 08.28.2008 6 comments

Original QFG II Screen shot.

Oh joy and rapture. Rapture and Joy! One of the best games ever, the Sierra classic, Quest For Glory II has been remade and is ready for a free download at AGD's Website. AGD made fan remakes of King's Quest one and two in the past and have done some bang up work.

For those who have never played the game, it is a fascinating mixture of point and click adventure game and RPG. I always preferred the story and the adventure side of thing to the rpg elements, and as they seem to have ramped up the difficulty, I am further entrenched in that opinion. I love the characters and story line. It's funny and charming and... just go get it. If you don't like it, you can erase it from your hard drive, and I won't speak with you ever again, because you are obviously a person for whom all joy has left the world.

Seriously, its not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but its only fair that Destructoid is aware that this classic from at least my childhood is back and prettier than ever.

Once I have played enough to give a proper review I will share one of my fondest memories with the community in greater detail. In the meantime... visit the land of Shapier, the home of the lithe katta, mysterious mages, faithful Saureses, and.. X-Ray Specs.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

 about me

I am sort of an old school gamer. I don't play much in the land of 3d, and honestly polygons confuse and scare me. Seriously, though, I love PC games of the 80's and 90's, the Sega, and the Super Nintendo. I still love a lot more of the 2600 titles than I would like to admit, and I can't get over games like Enduro, or Frogger (Atari or Arcade). I have a deep and abiding love for the Sierra adventure games of the past, and am fascinated by just about any good story, in games, books, and even occassioanly movies. I try the newer games, but due to limitations, (legally blind) I tend to prefer games from before the day they got too real. I still watch and eat up the news of new games because I love the industry and the culture. So that's enough about my gaming habits. I don't have any of the present gen consoles because I am broke.. but a girl can dream.

In other news (ION) I dabble with Linux, am a total PC nerd girl, and dote on the cat (mentioned below). I read fantasy and Sci-fi, and have been to Kenya Africa, and 20 of the 50 states.

Missy (my mascot cat) is not the Turtlecat, but she is happy to fill the post of resident dust bunny and foot grabber. She also has agreed to pose as mascot because she approves of attention. She helps me play, mostly by reminding me it is time to stop and return to the real world.
