Hey all,
As a lot of you know, Australia has no R18 rating for videogames. Causing all sorts of kerfuffle when a game with bad language or drugs or any sort of (gasp!) adult content tries to cross our shores.
Most of this is due to one man, Michael Atkinson, South Australia's Attorney General who is single-handedly keeping Australia's R18+ rating to be allowed. Thus making any game deemed R18 by the OFLC unable to be classified or sold in this country.
Sad I know, but somebody is actually doing something about it!
Melbourne man David Doe has taken it upon himself to run against Michael Atkinson in his seat of Croydon in SA. In doing this he's hoping to finally bring an R18+ rating for videogames in Australia, developing a more realistic and respectful public image of the videogaming public along the way.
If you want to support his campaign, with donations or just moral support, check out his

However, if you want to help
right now and you live in Adelaide, David will be at Rundle mall's balls
today getting signatures to support his campaign between
5.30 and 6.30 pm. If he gets over 150 members he will be able to officially register the Gamers4Croydon party with the South Australian Electoral Commission, and shit can get serious!
So if you're in Adelaide today, aged 18 or over and are eligible to vote, I advise you go pay Mr Doe a visit and help this great cause out.

This news should be front paged. Australian gamers have been getting screwed over a lot and this would be a step in the right direction. I'm not Australian like CleaningGuy so I can only wish the best of luck. Being that I'm not from Australia, I don't know how many people over there know about this man and what he's trying to do. The more information about this man spreads the better in my opinion.
It's about time you Aussies got a shot at a fair ratings system! Best of luck come election day.

Good on the guy. Atckinson actually challenged people to stand against him if they felt the classification system was flawed and it's good to see someone standing up for the issue.
If I lived in Adelaide I would so be there, alas living in Perth means I can't :(
I really hope this works, otherwise we are gonna have to wait until Atkinson quits or dies or whatever.
Michael Atkinson has held that seat for 20 years or something. That's a long time. You either have a lot of fresh ideas... or you grew stale long ago. No wonder he can't grasp this whole fandanlgled gaming with the pokie and the mon.
So bar donating money, what the fuck can we do if we aren't in SA? I should really pose the question to David but I'm on my phone.
I honestly hope this guy is successful, because it hurts my soul to live in such a fucking amazing country yet be so downtrodden at the same time.
