so my isp (comcast) has been basicaly a piece of shit lately and i was wondering what i should swith to. I do a speed test and get very shitty download rates. i have dd-wrt installed on my lynksis wrt54g and still get shitty speed.

I also have recently been unable to go to certian websites or ip's namely http://www.electricretard.com and http://www.slashinggames.org. i was wondering what isp i should switch to and what experiences you guys have had with your or a way to fix this shit. oh and btw

it was a comcast rep on the other end of the line. u see what i go thru now. they also use stickam and irc there which as we know is old and busted

i have comcast as well and I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS LIKE 5 SECS AGO mainly because i get like 5 min on 5 min off although my speed tests are amazing. Btw i can go to those websites....

Sucks doesn't it? Comcast I mean. I get regularly disconnected at least once a day of which I think is a pain in the ass and the damn cable TV goes out or gets shitfaced more than Paris frickin' Hilton. I could be delightfully watching TV and then I get snow or the picture and/or sound fucks up and I feel like booting those sons of a bitches right in the ass.

So yeah, if you can get something else because Comcast is bullshit!

Also, don't know if you can get it, but I have Time Warner's Roadrunner, and that works pretty well.

Doesn't Time Warner own Comcast? Because that's what I have and it used to be Comcast. The cable box that I bought has a sticker that says Time Warner but under it, it says Comcast.

vexed_alex: I don't think TW owns Comcast, but a year or two ago Time Warner and Comcast shifted around their "turf." So I was a Comcast customer, now I run TW. Probably vice versa for some others.

That said, you're really lucky if you actually get a choice. Many cities in the USA have a cable provider and a DSL provider and that's as good as competition gets.

You've gotta remember that Comcast is a Cable internet provider, and Cable internet connections are shared throughout your section of the network grid, so your connection speed is going to fluctuate as more/less people are using their internet. If you have no other choice (you probably don't, as this is a common problem in a lot of America) I'd recommend going here [url="http://www.dslreports.com/"]link[/ur] (fuck I hate bbcode) To check out some DSL providers, as DSl is a constant connection speed.
