I could give you a 10 page long explanation as to why this game is one of the worst things in history. Also, I believe the DMC1 team turned down the sequel, your post makes it seem like they had it taken away.
This game was so bad that Capcom came out and said that this game takes place so far into the DMC future that it will never ever effect the rest of the continuity ever. Considering Capcom still keeps most of the shitty Megaman X games in their official canon, that says how bad this game is.
