Well I was going to post one of these things yesterday but I was to playing Okami and I couldn't stop playing. All of these blogs I read are really interesting and now I am trying the fray, so onto the list!
10. I collect weapons in my spare time. If you happen to visit the fourms and talk in the IRC you might already know about this. I love to collect weapons, any type is fine by me. I currently have two katanas, one knock Ramierz Sword, Sepiroth's sword, a hunting knife and a pair of sai's.
9. I was made fun in middle school because I played video games. Yep, all through middle school everyone made fun of me because I openly proclaimed that I played video games. Video games really helped me survive middle school, that's why I play them all the time. It's helps me unwind from a stressful day.
8. I am a huge Zelda fan girl and damn proud of it. When I first played Ocarina of Time I fell in love with the series and now I am trying to find all the old Zelda games I can find. I will also agure that Ocarina of Time was one of the best game for it's time and is still awesome till this day.
7. I LOVE Musicals I love musicals just as much as I love video games. I would love to travel to New York and watch some musicals on Broadway. My favorite musicals are Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera and Rent.
6. I have a soft spot for 90's cartoons Oh the 90's how I miss thee and all of the awesome cartoons we had. Whenever I find a channel that's airing Pinky and the Brain or S.W.A.T Kats I get all happy on the inside. There is nothing like some good old 90's cartoons.
5. Roleplaying games are my favorite genre More then another genre, RPG's are my favorite genre ever. Since I like to read alot, I find that RPG's are like interactive books, in that they have just as much depth and character development as books to.
4. History is my favorite subject, ever For some odd reason I love learning about history be it America's history, Ancient History or Foregin History, it all jsut fasnacites me to no end. The being said I watch alot of History channel and love to read historical fiction.
3. I have a very big sweet tooth. Anything to do with bakery, candy and anything sweet I good eat it all. With a big sweet tooth like mine, I am going to enroll in Culinary School with a focus on becoming a Pastry Chef. Along with that I love baking cakes and cookies. When I find time I plan on making a Destructoid cake.
2. I plan on opening my own Dessert Parlor. The idea of having a place where people can come in and enjoy as many dessert as they want, in a great, fun astmosphere and very friendly service is a great idea. Sometimes you just need to relax with a nice piece of bakery and a good cup of coffee. Also maids may or may not be serving in the parlor.
1. I really like Pin-Up art It's something I have always liked, maybe because of all the pictures I seen the women are all curvy and have a shape of a realistic womens body. Plus I love the style of clothes they wear, many people find it werid that I like the art.
Well my 21st birthday is coming up on Jan 23, 2009 and I can't wait, feels like it's taking forever to turn 21. Anyway I thought whats a better way to celebrate then with the D-toid getting by bar hopping all night. Then it struck me, I live in fracking Wisconsin, the place where nobody goes and in the middle of the midwest. The thing is in Downtown Milwaukee on Water Street is filled with bars right next to each other, makes it for very easy bar hopping and all of them are pretty decent from what I hear. It just sucks that I live in Wisconsin and my birthday is is fracking winter, it's so lame. So if anyone is up to this just let me know, I think it would be fun to celebrate my 21st with the D-toid Community.
Just thinking about this game gets me into a rage. The first versus game I ever played was Capcom vs SNK 2 and I feel in love with it. It got me interested in the SNK fighting games. So I went to my local Gamestop and picked up SVC Chaos right when I saw it, I thought I was getting a deal with a $9.99 price tag. Oh boy was I wrong, oh so wrong.
I turned it on and was in utter disappointment. The character selection was so limited, nothing like the roster in CvsS 2. They put in Zero from Mega Man but no Sakura, put in the alien from Metal Slug but no Rock Howard, what the hell is that. Another thing that was stupid was that the extra character didn't have slots, you had to press the right trigger on cetain character to acess them, they could have added a another row of characters.
So I decide to try the the arcade and see how that faired, it didn't help that at all. There is no running but only this dash thing that you can only do one tap at a time, what the hell is that all about. Other thing that got me angry was the diffculty, I set it to normal mode like I always do and it was freaking hard to even do the first arcade battle. Most of the time the other character would block fucking everything, I noticed that Guile and Chun Li did this the most, and they pulled off the Maxium Desperation Moves at the last second, that is just way to fucking cheap. Then I unlocked this guy and he makes my hate for this game even stronger.
The wind master Goenitz, by far the most cheapest character I have every encountered in a fighting game. One reason is he has main attack but it gets worse, depending on what button you press the farther the wind funnel goes. He does these moves over an over again and you can't dodge them at all. Even touching a milimeter of the damn thing and you still get damage on you. In survival mode this doesn't help at all if you meet up with him.
Just writing about this game makes me extremely angry. The A.I is horrible, the diffcultly level is beyond annoying, and it seems they took more time to work on the before battle dialouge instead of the actually game itself. I have no idea what they were thinking we then made this game but it's so frustrating. Capcom vs SNK 2 was such a amazing game and then they follow up with this piece of crap. So right now it's collecting dust on my shelf, I haven't played it in months and there is no point it selling it back because no one will play it.
Oh the Legend of Zelda series how I sing your praises. I never really played a Zelda game until I got my hands Ocarina for the Nintendo 64. I first saw this awesome game at my friends house while watching her brother play, let me tell you I was in awe of it. The sheer awesomeness of seeing Link running around Hyrule was jusst jaw dropping to me. Then my friends brother turned into adult Link and at that moment I just had to get my hands on this game to experience myself. Well it didn't happen until a couple years later that I got my hands on the game. My brother's dad gave him a N64 and a whole bunch of games and one of them was Ocarina of Time. My face lit up when the title screen appeared.
This was the game that I wanted to play forever and now I could finally play it myself. From the first time I was able to move around Kokiri forest I was so happy. The next great thing I loved was walking out of the forest and seeing Hyrule field and seeing the door to the castle market was amazing. You know, minus meeting that owl, almost everywhere I went. The first three temples were just a taste of what was to come when your reached adulthood.
When I was turned into a adult I swear I jumped up in excitement, I was like 12. To me that's where all the fun is in the game. The exploring of all the temples, except the water temple I hate that place so much and the shadow temple was just a creepy frakking place. The one temple I loved was the spirit temple, just the music and the atmosphere of the place was amazing! Also the whole going back in time to complete one part of the temple and then traveling to the future to completing the rest of the temple was interesting. That final boss is one of my favorite bosses ever and in my opinion one of the best bosses of all time. I remember my brother and I would fight over who get to fight the boss when we created a new file.
The whole ending scene of the game really made me sad and almost made me cry. One thing was how Zelda looked so sad as she said goodbye to Link, to this day that scene gets me all sad and what not. Well after beating the game, I just had to play it all over again and again. I knew what was coming and what was going to happen but I didn't care. I played and played that game so many times I could beat it with my eyes closed, okay not really but you get the point.
Also this game is what really hooked me onto games and gave me the idea of becoming a games designer, I would love to create a game that gives the same experience as Zelda but in a totally different way. Even today I will dust of my N64 and pop in the cartridge and play for hours. I get this nostalgic feeling when playing and feel like the 10 year old girl all over again.
Since I attend Devry University I go to school year round, with a two week break every 24 weeks, so I am currently in school right now. At school it's required to take a humanities class to graduate, so I decide to take the class and get it over with. Well I thought it was going to be some class about "hot topic" issues and people with different opinions debating about what's ethical and many fights will ensure from it. Surprsingly on the first day I find out the class is about art.
We start discussing on what was one of the most creative things we have seen and I state Gears of Was chainsaw bayonet. Much to that my teacher Pam agreed and we start talking about video games as a form of art. One of my classmate Sam chimes in that her brother learned all of the greek mythology through God of War and Pam said who cares if a kid learns through reading or playing video games. I jumped for freaking inside when she said that. Someone agress with the video game as art and I don't think she plays video games.
Well after class I talked to her about bringing in some video games and looking at them as art forms and she agreed with a smile. So on tues. I bought in my XBOX and showed the Jade Empire. What was awesome was how she was talking about the design of level and how the colors effected the way the atmosphere felt. It was so awesome hearing my classmates talking about a video game as a form of art. Even better is Pam wants me to bring in another game and talk about it as art.
Here's the thing I really don't want to drag my XBOX around again, that thing is a freaking monster but I have more games I can show as art like Fable, Half-life, Guilty Gear and a bunch more. Well my gamecube is busted and I am not bringing my Wii to school, might get mugged or something like that. I would love to show the Wind Waker. Then there is my PS2, SNES, and N64. I would lvoe to show FF-X but I let my friend borrow that and only game I have to present as art for my PS2 is Kingdom Hearts. I only have about six games for my PS2 and most of them are fighters. For my N64 I could show Ocarina of Time and Mario 64. So what do you guys think I should show?
I must say I am very excited for Fable 2 to come out this year. The walk through I saw even got me more excited, especially the online co-op in the game and that you can experience your friends world that is very different then your own world. One of my friends is a Fable fan also and he usually takes on the evil path and so now I can see what happenes to his world since he is a evil douche.
I know in many comments about this story many people felt "burned" Fable 1 because they never get what they were promised. Well when Fable orginally came out I never had a Xbox to play and second I never had cable to watch the E3 coverage of it and finally I didn't know about Destructoid to here what they promised in the orignal game. So when I finally got my XBOX only last year one of the games I bought was Fable: The Lost Chapters.
I went into this game not knowing what to except. This is one of my favorite games of all time. Yea it has it's flaws like every other game out there. When playing it I wished that you could have kids and watch them grow up with you but I looked past that and throughly enjoyed the game or chose being a girl and see how the story played out. Now I have to find a job, buy a 360 and save up for Fable 2. I have a feeling I am going to be broke thanks to college and gaming.
Just your normal psycho gamer from next door. I play alot of games and alot of generes, as long as it's fun and keeps my attention I'll play it. My top two favorite generes are RPG'S and Fighters. I don't take sides in console wars and find gender divides utter crap.
