Some of this was on
Maxconsole yesterday already, but apparently nobody cared or I read over it.
Recap: GamePro did an
interview with Shane Kim at E3. There, Shane Kim states his logic behind a MGS4 360 release:
Shane Kim: It's great that people think about it in terms of wish lists, and if you ask 10 different people, you're going to get 10 different wish lists. This is the point we we're trying to make: We didn't have a bunch of new titles, but the briefing was about showing people that [the games are] right here and right now.
The big significant third-party title of any consequence that isn't on the Xbox 360 is
Metal Gear Solid 4, and Konami even said "Who knows, maybe that'll happen."
So are you feeling bullish on [getting Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360]?
SK: Well we're certainly feeling bullish about third-party support in general. If you look at it from an economic standpoint, third parties have to support more than one platform. That's their business model. Titles are just getting way too expensive. How much do you think that Konami is spending on MGS4? So economically they've got to leverage that the best that they can. So it's really up to the first parties to create the content that's going to differentiate the platforms and that's where we think we have the competitive advantage.
Yeah, or Sony could make up for the economic factors by paying $50 million? Oh wait, they would never do such a lowly thing.
Today, Konami had
this to say:
President Tanaka also stated, "As we are aware of the popularity and hardware-driving power of this software franchise, going forwards we are open to taking this franchise across to other platforms"
Have some fun on Kotaku, reading how fanboys still try to question the source instead of just reading it. While you are at it, read Konami's
financial report. It's only 12 pages, you can do it. It even shows a new exercising bike game at page 10. And you could see how Konami is doing a bit better than last year (page 5), but they could do a LOT better with MGS4 on multiplatform. That, or a Sony injection of cash.
Dammit Pew, I was just typing this up. But nice work. In Ron we trust.
At what point can i wear my "Ron was right" t-shirt on the internets? Oh, maybe, whilst there is still time, I should turn it into a cape.
Haha, yeah they should totally make one! And a Matlock shirt for that matter.
I would buy a "Ron was right" shirt. If I wore clothes.
