Hai! You may know me as Professor Pew in older times. If you see a cblog here from beyond September 2010 or something: that's from the cblogging days and not anything editor-related :)
A bit hit & miss with these vids, but that tripmine trick looks worth repeating.
In other news, MSNBC has posted a top 5 of their most memorable game songs. Spoiler:
5. Super Mario Bros
4. Halo
3. Ms. Pacman
2. Legend of Zelda
1. Final Fantasy VII
Ms. Pacman??? Is that some American thing or something? And how is FF7 memorable as 'A' song? It was more of a total package, while Zelda has the Overworld theme and Mario has the.. Mario theme? I'm missing classic tunes like Digger's Popcorn tune, Tetris and Monkey Island. Hell, I even remember Duke3D's music better than fucking Ms. Pacman.
So let's do a proper list, what else belongs in a decent Top 20 list of most memorable video game tunes?

Updated with some random Wii gameplay vid that is not worth posting a new blog about, but looks sweet nonetheless:
Old school Sonic. I hate that Sonic's music gets left in the dust thanks to Mario. Sonic 1, 2 and 3 had some of the best music on the Mega Drive, considering most of the music on that system was pure crap.
Fuck yeah Sonic! Even if Megaman had cool music, I never played those games enough to have good memories attached to it.
No idea how I could've forgotten Sonic though, maybe because it's been stored as "so much better than Mario" in my brain to not make the connection :P
Sonic's music is great. I love the Chemical Zone tune from Sonic 2. I actually kind of enjoy the butt rock of 3D Sonic as well, but it isn't the same. Kif was spot on though, Sonic is still one of the best sounding Genesis games.
I'll stick with the best widely known songs, skewing towards older or insanely popular games.
Agree with Tetris A and B theme. How about title themes from Super Mario World, Dragon Quest/Warrior, Metroid, and Final Fantasy? Maybe "Vampire Killer" from Castlevania, Gauntlet theme, Street Fighter II intro, Duke Nukem intro, Space Quest theme?
Not all works of art, but I think they're all memorable to a wide number of people.

Tetris needs to be on that list.

But, if I had to stake my claim, my favourite game song would be "Still Alive".
I'm doing science.

That'll take up about 10 places on it's own.
Thank you and goodnight
