Modern games != art Nolan Bushnell, some guy you might remember from the old days, talks about modern videogames and how he want to create a shift in the gaming industry. And lo and behold! He wants to make a Casual gaming online world for the whole family. Blarg, I'm ded!
"Video games today are a race to the bottom. They are pure, unadulterated trash and I'm sad for that," says Bushnell.
Read his interview here. It's pretty interesting if you can step outside the current-gen perspective of what games can be.
RE:UC banned This is just stupid, and sure to upset quite a lot of zombie Nazi's (and their dogs). Nintendo's official RE:UC page shows it has gotten an 18+ rating from the PEGI (Euro rating board). And from the looks of this tiny little bit of information, it's not going to be sold in Germany:
"This game will not be available in Germany due to lack of a USK rating."
Wtf? Come on... Resident Evil, banned? Zombies in a movie are ok. But once you shoot them with your remote, it will create a new Reichskristallnacht where hardcore gamers will die by the thousands. They will be systematically be put in camps and forced to play the Wii Play's "Spot the Mii" and Sonic's Secret Rings, until they commit mass suicide.
That, or players might watch something educative and tasteful, like Bad Boys 2 (one of the worst movies of 2000+ btw)
Maybe we should just forget about adult themes in games and focus solely on pushing out babies that can consume our new casual global economy of wasting time, eh?

Added Puppet's favorite youtube, because he keeps messaging me to include it.
I don't like his new direction myself, but the old games that we grew up with definitely were different from current day games. He doesn't seem overly bitter to me, more like a guy that has an opinion and wants to change things that he sees as "better". Since he is actually trying to make a change, I don't see him as some armchair grumpy old man.
Me, I want my zombies to splatter all over walls ;)
Seriously though, with the gazillion of FPS and RTS clones out there, simple yet deep, good and addictive gameplay is sometimes hard to find. When I look at Mario Galaxy videos, I get the feeling like I had back with the old Mario's: I want to play it, and if it's easy to finish, then that doesn't even matter much. I'll just play it again another time!
With most FPS's, you just play through them and never look back. Same thing with most RTS's and even most RPG's. I like to play through them, but some diversity wouldn't hurt.
Yo listen up here's a story
About a little guy that lives in a blue world
And all day and all night and everything he sees
Is just blue like him inside and outside
Blue his house with a blue little window
And a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him and hisself
And everybody around
Cos he ain't got nobody to listen to
I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...
I have a blue house with a blue window.
Blue is the colour of all that I wear.
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too.
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
Blue are the people here that walk around,
Blue like my corvette, it's standing outside.
Blue are the words I say and what I think.
Blue are the feelings that live inside me.
I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...
I have a blue house with a blue window.
Blue is the colour of all that I wear.
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too.
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue.

Blue are the feelings that live inside me.
I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...
Inside and outside blue his house
With the blue little window and a blue corvette
And everything is blue for him and hisself
And everybody around cause he aint got
Nobody to listen to
Man, STFU. If it wasnt for this guy, we wouldnt even hack Chuck E. F'in cheese ok? jesus show some respect :P
But yea, I can kinda see both sides of the story, but things change, people move on, so you have to deal with it or get buried with the rest of the antiques.
I saw the whole Bushnell thing. While he has a few valid points, he still comes across as a miserable old fool. This is the guys that invented Chuck E. Cheese, the eternal enemy of parents. Plus, the Wii is doing what he complains about right now. At least it would be if there was something interesting to play.
It's not a good thing. Chuck E. Cheese is a straight rip-off, and you can thank Nolan Bushnell for that. His ideas are wholsome and noble, but he should STFU, as he is an old fuck.
Bushnell is a tool, and never did anything relevant. He's just some tard' who accidentally made a game in the 70's, not some fucking father of video games.
Yeah!!11 one. Games should never have evolved beyond dots bouncing around on a screen guys!1
Bushnell sounds like a total douche, and the nannies that insist on babysitting the gaming population worldwide similarly so. It's not their job to keep things out of our hands, it's their job to rate them so we can come to our own fucking conclusions.

Then again, Molyneux, Miyamoto, Will Wright and Chris Sawyer are also fossils.
Btw, do you mean this kind of fossil:
or this kind?
