Childhood tv-show memories: Professor Pew Edition
Maurice Tan | 3:15 PM on 10.18.2007 51 comments

Thanks to Snaileb's superior post of win, many of us are way back in the 80's and 90's vibe! What better way to cleanse the cblogs of Okami news? I propose a series of childhood memories, that through our powers combined, we are Captain Nostalgitoid!

I shall attempt to continue the Holy works of Snaileb, he whose trail of snail permeates all of history, for he is Holy. At thus sayeth the Lord, thou shalt continue His works, for they are Holy. And for all those who spam Okami blogs shall be sent to the seventh layer of Hell, without guidance of the poet Virgil.

May all those that follow, share with others their own childhood through the miracle of the Embed button. And may they link to each other and form the collective childhood of the community, for they are all Niero's Children (except for Wiisucks).

Let us not fill our blogs with entire seasons, but share the stories of Genesis through the introduction songs of our most glorious tv-shows. Thus, the spirit of the Workman spoke to me in a dream. In the name of the Niero, the Workman, and the Holy Mr. Destructoid, let us begin the Lords glorious works. Hallelujah!

Transformers G1

Transformers: The Movie

BattleTech

Skeleton Warriors

Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light only the best cartoon ever made.

Ducktales

Teddy Ruxpin

Dino Riders

Bionic Six

TaleSpin

Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (why the hell were they called Chippendale anyway?)

The Tick (Gravity is a harsh mistress)

Ghostbusters

C.O.P.S.

Barbapapa

Bouli, this show probably didn't make it to the US, but it was 100% win

The same story for SuperTed

and Ovide and his Gang, sorry but the english version sucks too hard. Here is the Dutch one:

Captain Planet

Dungeons and Dragons

Eek the Cat and the Terrible Thunder Lizards

Oh shit, Fraggle Rock

Almost forgot Earthworm Jim

Also forgot VR Trooper

And last but not least, the Snorks

----
Sneaky update because of brainfail: Count Duckula

Darkwing Duck

Balth is already in the right mindset with his M.A.S.K. post, so let's continue this! I may have exaggerated a tiny bit with this list. But there's probably enough stuff I forgot or that I've never seen. Maybe you'll see some stuff here that you've never heard of. Let us rejoice and share!

Remember Danger Mouse? And the side cartoon Banana Man?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=OZnnD9IeeAA (just in case I'm a retard)

Now this one is a stretch, but this show was like crack to me when I was a kid. Today's Special

If anyone remembers that one, Mad props.

I never saw Bobby's World. Nor did I watch Captain N. Or Wuzzles or Goof Troop. Now that my brain is kinda working again, I see I missed the Care Bears and My Little Pony though!

Sam and Max had a pretty good show on fox. When the new games came out gametap started putting up the episodes as well, good stuff.

Wow, epic list there. Glad you caught your lack of Darkwing Duck, a travesty averted.

Also, if you go here, there's a fairly comprehensive list of any cartoon you could possibly want to watch online.

In every wish and dream and happy home, you will find the kingdom of the gnome.

Man, the finale for that show was traumatising.

Wow, the stream of memories just keeps going.

@RICHARD: I vaguely remember Bananaman, that other one didn't air here. P.S.: remove "/ " from the youtube url's to make them work :P

Missed Sam & Max as a kid. Missed Noozles too, although that is now my favorite new show (I love koala's)! I couldn't find David the Gnome because I didn't know what he was called in english.. man, that shit was old.

Does anyone remember a dinosaur show that had humanoid dinos that could press a button on their outfits and turn into the full sized versions of themselves? I can't figure out what it is.

I watched that show religiously as I kid (screw cars, I want Swift the Fox as my transportation), but what is this traumatizing finale of which you speak. I don't remember seeing that.

Anyone ever watch Land of the Lost?

Also, does anyone remember some cartoon on Nickelodeon in the early 80's that had two koalas, one blue and one pink? I barely remember watching it when I was like 4 (I'm twenty four now) and I have no clue what it was.

I remember most of them, haha, I just remembered that the narrator voice in count duckula scared me (in spanish, in english i didn't found it that creepy), i would change channels at the start and end of the show.

@Shipero
So it was called Noozles? It wasn't on my main "cartoon viewing" list, but i did saw it every now and then.

@Arrested Developer
I was too young when i saw that gnome the first time, it blew my mind and i avoided the show since then.

I might be confusing it with another show but if I remember correctly the fox and david died and became trees. Or my mind is playing tricks on me, I tend to imageine things as being more extreme than they really were.

"Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors". What the show lacks in plot coherence, the theme song makes up for in sheer high notes.

wtf? died and became trees? That's a helluva lot more traumatic than the episode where moles broke into their house and wrecked the place :P

Anyone remember Hammerman? It was a cartoon starring MC Hammer's magical shoes. I believe they were named Righty and Lefty.

all kinds of great childhood memories in this thread. sadly, i missed a few of those, but now i'll just have to go look them up.

one show i'm trying to remember the name was a kids cartoon that centered around 1 human kid and a bunch of robots that each associated with a sport. they would go around protecting things from some hot blonde with an evil streak. when that show was on, it was the only thing that me and my brother agreed on. we hated each other the other 23.5 hours, but when that show was on we were best friends.

***braingames update*** i ordered a vhs copy of the 3rd volume of brain games off amazon a few weeks ago and it looks like it was lost in the mail. if it ever comes in i'm going to get it uploaded so keep an eye out.

speaking of Disney Afternoon, does anyone remember Peter Pan and the Pirates? It was a strange reimagineering (wordsmithing) of the Disney story. It was a strange little cartoon that looked nothing like the Disney version with weird stuff like: Peter Pan is dressed in brown, Hook looks like a member of the 18th century British Parliament, dragons, ice creatures.

The coolest part of all? Tim Curry was the voice of Captain Hook. listen and see for yourself.
