I graduated high school in 2008 with a Core 40 Diploma while also graduating from Hoosier Hills Career Center with training in office applications and business management. I later enrolled in Ivy Tech where I studied PC Support and Administration. After finishing a few semesters I decided that it wasn't really what I wanted to do. I am now unemployed and have no idea what profession I will eventually end up in.
I've always had a passion for video games. The earliest memory I have was of me playing Kirby Super Star on the SNES. I couldn't figure out how to kill boss so my uncle decided to help me. I guess you could say gaming runs in my family, as that same uncle is into his late 30s and still enjoys the thrill of video games, and so do his three sons. That's not all, both of my little brothers AND my mother are also into video games quite intensely. We are one big, happy family of gamers.
Over the years I've owned just about every major video game console and even some odd ones. At the beginning I'd have to say that I was strictly Nintendo, but I've grown to accept the fact that other companies also have great products.
My favorite video game genres are RPG and FPS, but I usually play a little bit of everything.
Favorite video game series include: The Elder Scrolls, The Legend of Zelda (Wind Waker being my favorite), Call of Duty, Mario, Grand Theft Auto, Battlefield, Pokemon, and many others.
Other interests include: Computers, Graphic Design, Web Design, Video Editing, Photography, Journalism, Creative Writing, Reading, Music, Movies, Television, and Cheese.
I'll try to update this blog every so often. My life isn't that exciting so I don't usually have anything interesting to talk about.
Games I am currently playing:
- Minecraft
- Red Dead Redemption
- Fable III (I miss the original)
- Saints Row 2
- Borderlands and all of the add-ons
- Pokemon Black
Games I am looking forward to:
- TES V: Skyrim
- Saints Row The Third
- Modern Warfare 3
- Battlefield 3
- Pokemon Grey(?)

Other Stuff:
I wound up quitting, and found other work, but instead of selling my PS2 and games, I said to myself: "Yeah, no-name instant ramen and vitamin pills. Technically you can live off those, right?"
Did it for a few months. Had I not had relatives who invited me over for dinner a little more than normal, I probably would have had to take the final, drastic step of selling my games. I think, though, on some level I understood that doing so was a delaying tactic at best, which is why I never did it.
Thanks for sharing this story, PreacherMan.
One day you'll get it back - or maybe something better like the next gen Sony console. Keep your head up. :]
There used to be an old rule of thumb that people should always have enough savings in the bank to cover one months rent (or mortgage) and I think it's always wise to try and abide by this - even if it means giving up buying a few new games until the savings are built up. Duke Nukem seems like it would have been a good game to skip! :)
(oh, and line of credits, or credit cards don't count as "savings"!).
I'm not speaking of you... but it drives me crazy to see people buying new computers, new games, new consoles and all kinds of other unneccessary things, and then seeing that same person whining because they can't make their car payments - losing their car and losing their job because they couldn't make it to work... and then after losing her job she wrote on her facebook that she went out and bought a new game to cheer herself up because she was going to be home and had nothing to do. It's just really hard to feel any sympathy for someone that feels she's entitled to spend all her money on crap - but whines about having no food. I don't understand the mentality - but then I see the ads on American TV with two women talking about how they drive with no insurance but now they can get cheap insurance from XXXX - call them today. They don't care if you've had insurance lapses. Those type of ads send the message that it's actually ok to drive without insurance. I see the ads for "payday loans" that have outrageous fees attached. It's kind of sad that our current western culture seems to perceive having luxuries like gaming, TV's, electronics as necessities and some form of inalienable "right" - and that it's the government's fault if they don't have the money for it all.

... and again, it's nice to see someone that did the right thing for a change.
@ Elsa
I enjoyed your rant, and I agree completely
There are rumours of another incoming PS3 price cut if it makes you feel any better.
