I'm 30-something. I play games and sometimes type things. I summon deities and demons, shoot raiders and wish to settle down with another girl for turn-based battles on the beach, chocobo rides and torchlit dinners in ancient Nordic tombs or mysterious castles that appear at night.

When I'm not slaying dragons or saving the galaxy, I'm probably roaming the open world, rolling into a ball to access secret passages and seeing if my Paragon rating is high enough for discounts at the mall.

For other things and stuff about me you can read here, here and here. You will learn of my origins, my trials and tribulations, how I became a superpixie and what games I really, really like!

Well, this is a bit of a last minute blog. This isn't really an "of the year" blog or anything. This is more of an assessment of the games that I set out to play, the ones I didn't get around to or finish and other things.

I said I would play and finish all four Etrian Odyssey games to completion and... I didn't. Guess that leaves me with a starting place for 2014 so one of my first goals will be to, at the very least, finish Etrian Odyssey Untold. I will worry about the other ones later. I think saying I was going to finish all of them in 2013 was a little bold so I'm not going to overestimate myself this time.

I did finish a Fire Emblem game, so that's good. I've finished Fire Emblem: Awakening, but I've yet to get around to the DLC so that's something else I can start on soon. Or maybe I'll grab that copy of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon that caught my eye the other day. I also have the Sacred Stones as a 3DS Ambassador and Rekka no Ken (which was just "Fire Emblem" on Western GBAs) on my GBA emulator, so I could do any of those as well! We'll see!

Speaking of emulators, now that I found a good SNES emulator for my tablet with no issues, so I can get around to playing the fan-translated versions of Shin Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei II. With Nocturne at 100 percent completion and Shin Megami Tensei IV still in need of some completion on the compendium, DLC and other endings I've got some work to do on the latter.

There was never really a fixed deadline for finishing all Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem games as we have no idea when the crossover hits, if at all in 2014, but I would still like to finish as many as possible before it happens. Shin Megami Tensei if... is the only real obstacle as it does not have a fan translation yet.

One big goal I do have for 2014 is having completed a lot of Shin Megami Tensei games so they are ready to be taken through New Game Plus on live streams and LPs later in the year. So far Nocturne, Shin Megami Tensei IV and Persona 4 Golden are there and the saves are backed up, which makes my plans for them a lot easier. It's a pity Final Fantasy X doesn't have the feature (unless it found its way into the HD international version) but I know that Final Fantasy X-2 originally did.

So yeah, a lot of old RPG stuff behind and ahead of me. Fret not, though, because I'm going to have plenty of healthy variety, too.  I probably would go insane if it was only RPGs. That Wii U isn't just going to be for Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. I don't go insane if I didn't get around to Mario, Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros. and others. I'm even eyeballing a PS4 for some games already.

That aside there was Guacamelee, Thomas Was Alone, Jet Set Radio HD, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Persona 4 Golden, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Pokemon X and Final Fantasy VIII that I also finished in 2013. I may be missing a few others, but I think that's most of them.

Video game stuff aside, I'm pretty proud of my progress on this blog. I didn't post as much as I'd like but I did post more than I thought I would. Now that I have this tablet and it can do speech to text, that does make things a bit easier until I have shiny new PC. So hopefully this means there will be more blogging!

I'm also glad that I came out to the Destructoid community this year. Where I live, the places I work - what I've talked about here at times isn't something I can always talk about in public. At least not without people starting to gossip, point or act like I shoved my crotch in their face. The social consequences can be dire for being that open where I live so I have to pick and choose who I tell, which can be a gamble.

And given that some gay and trans* support forums can easily dwell in negativity and misery, they're not places I can always rely on for community. This is also partly because I refuse to live like who I am is some curse even if I do have to use discretion in my day-to-day life. I'm not going to be miserable on my own free time.

So yeah, my demons are a bit different (see what i did there?), but its good to know where I can go, be more open about myself and talk about games. Destructoid has been a great place to see others being open and honest about their lives as well. We're all here to talk about games at the end of the day but I've also gotten to see some of the lives and experiences beyond that common ground and that's not something you can just get anywhere.

I'm looking forward to what 2014 brings!
