In my experience as a gamer, I've learned that to simply judge a game by how it looks in say, a trailer or from a cursory glance, is just unfair. Unfair to the developer and unfair to you as a gamer. i'm assuming most of you have heard the expression "not to judge a book by its cover". what most don't know is how much this plays into gaming, pardon the pun. i have seen both people i never knew and my own friends pass up games on the basis that they took a glance at it and said no i'm not getting it. the variations are that a certain publisher *cough Activision cough*, were behind it. one, if you refuse to buy games on the basis said above, such as Transformers: WFC or Blur, you're only hurting the developers for having Activision as a publisher.
Autobots are angry because of judging games by cover alone.
my second point is that comparing two games to each other is just as bad, if not worse. if i had a nickel for every time someone said that they didn't want to play Bad Company 2 because they figured that it sucked compared to MW2, i would be a f****** millionare. i concede that if they had played both and genually liked B:BC2 more than MW2, then i would be happy for them. but since is the internet we are talking about, there is always going to be trolls who enjoy ripping on a game because it borrows similar aspects from another game or because they simply feel that, through their logic, they know the trials and tribulations that come with making a game and have a god-given right to judge it, not by technicals or by seeing it being made, but by their opinion alone. it's that kind of thing that truly digusts me.
