Mr. Destructoid welcomes home Dreamcast / R.O.B.toid
Phist | 9:27 AM on 04.28.2008 22 comments

We love our Dreamcasts around here. I've owned two consoles and have been without one for a long ass time now. Until yesterday... Galagabug hooked up a Dreamcast for me and I'm so grateful he was able to satisfy my craving. Yes, White Castle in video game form. Who would of thunk it?

So upon the Dreamcast's arrival, I figured I would let Mr. Destructoid do a little inspection before I hook it up and reminisce to some Power Stone.

Console. Check.

He's all about a thorough examination.

Those wires are really tricky for him for some reason.

Mr. Destructoid is Googling for a VMU at the moment, wish us luck. Say hello to R.O.B.toid, enjoy the new banner.

Nintendo doesn't respect Dtoid / Advance Wars Launch Event @ Nintendo World NYC
Phist | 7:30 PM on 01.19.2008 19 comments

Here in the land of the robot, we are eagerly awaiting the release of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. According to people that have played it already, it's obvious that this game is going to be even better than the first classic installment on the DS. The graphic style looks slicker than Exxon Valdes and the improved nuances will kick ass (and take names) over Big N's Wifi.

In the latest issue of EGM, a Days of Ruin ad spreads across 2 pages to grab your attention and tell you what the critics are saying:

"Features like Wi-Fi play with voice chat, and map creation and sharing remake the title while keeping its addictive strategy gameplay."
- Joystiq.com

(Lemon's poopy-stained undeepants writes with more originality than whoever wrote that.)

"Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin looks to be the most exciting entry in the series since its introduction. Any fans of previous installments should find an incredible new depth with the title, as well as the maturity that a game about war should have."
- UGO.com

(Oh really? Then why is it rated E for Everyone? Hmmmmm?? Please fix this, Wombat!)

"It may be a big change, but Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin is a welcome addition to the series and one that should breathe new life into the game."
- Kotaku.com

(Thank you, Kotaku. At least better than the other guys.)

How dare you leave the mighty robot out of your little comment party, Nintendo! Here's my piece:

"This game gon' rock your face off! Buy that shit. Pick up 20 copies. Teach your dog how to play it. Print some dolla dolla bills y'all and sprinkle it on your favorite cereal. Worship the Advance Wars, cretin!"
- Some Asian guy from Destructoid.com

(See what I did there? Concise, touching upon aesthetics, scoring style points and brutal honesty. When will you sissy blogs ever learn?)

Don't forget, New York area Dtoiders. Nintendo World is hosting a special event this Sunday:

"Visit the Nintendo World store for a special sneak-peek celebration a day before the game's launch. From 1-3 PM, fans will have the chance to win cool prizes by participating in Nintendo trivia challenges and an Advance Wars tournament! Come early - the first 25 people in line for this awesome event will receive a free copy of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin!"

BahamutZero, EternalDarkWing, myself and other community members will be there. Come show us your Pokemans. And maybe we can get a quick game of Advance Wars in and publicly insult Bahamaslut. Boom.

In WalMart's new holiday circular, they attempt to be racially cutting-edge and show you how to Wii it up.

The director of the shoot found it essential to have the hipster catalog models hold the Wiimotes with 2 hands. Can I Table Tennis Wii 2 handz??

Two-fold fail.

I got a Master Puke edition 360
Phist | 11:20 PM on 10.10.2007 29 comments

I've been thinking about buying a 360 for the longest. I was torn between three choices (wasn't even considering a Core). I go with the Halo edition so I don't have to worry about a Play & Charge thingy. And yes, I like the puke coloring. I've been flamed quite a few times for liking the nauseating color scheme and fancy designy stuff on the sides. Well, I like it. So there. My Halos, let me show you them:

The box is pretty cool. Puke controller and headset don't look too bad. Just to let you know, the colors don't match perfectly between the two.

Obvious emo angles:

Here's what the exclusive Halo dashboard theme looks like:

Wii60 FTW.

I'm still pissed at the fact that Microsoft didn't bother to pack in Halo 3 with this bundle. It's obvious that they were more concerned with making everyone give them more moneys. I do like the console inside and out. New heatsink, possibly the new chipset - can't go wrong with that. Gamer pics and theme, meh, not all that. The theme even makes half the buttons (especially the keyboard) in the menus almost unreadable.

Mr. Destructoid is the shiznit in Bomberman Live (go download now or die the slowest and most painful death possible). Teh Halos is very fun, funnest when Workman is eating my bullets. XBLA is the hotness, but wish I was rich and buy almost every goddam game in the library. PC sync wins many Halos (even connected my iPod with no problems, rocked Anamanaguchi while playing Geometry Wars). And Yaris, can't forget the Yaris.

Bill Gates, you won this Applehead over many times with your 360s. Ok, time to break 1000 gamer points. I'll see you on Live.

Mr. Dtoid Bomberman Live UPDATE: Massive robot infections spread through the intertubes!
Phist | 1:12 PM on 09.19.2007 37 comments

Tehuberone, Pedro and I are Matlocking the Internets after the official press release from Hudson (sorry, no link right now) for Dtoid's very own Mr. Destructoid in the upcoming Bomberman Live update.

Here's what we found so far:

Kotaku (read the comments for loling)
Game|Life (Wired) (I see what you did there, Furniss)
N4G
XBLArcade (Buster?)
TeamXBox
Bits Bytes Pixels & Sprites
GamersHell
GotFrag (thanks, dudes)

Special mentions:

1up.com
Ziff Davis doesn't even mention the Dtoid name and refer to us as "popular gaming blog" for whatever reason. We have a name, assholes. Not directed towards 1up staff who some of us know.)

Joystiq
Joystiq. Oh, Joystiq. Sooner or later you have to report it. It's a trap! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!)

**UPDATE** Xbox 360 Fanboy (thanks BFeld
Joystiq's side blog thing, not making much of a whoop about the news.

Gaming Nexus (thanks DMV
LOLZ, we have such a negative effect on the industry.

**UPDATE** IGN (thanks Grim
I can't read their article right now:

(that's what you get for suckin' cockass...)

**To all of the special mentions above, crank up that hate machine all you want. Ain't no stoppin this groove!**

Don't forget to Digg!

Bombertoid multiple wallpaper sizes here.

Dtoiders, thanks for all of the love these past 2 days. I am still shocked by the whole thing. Workman advised me to not gay out (I try, Ron). I hope to continue to do many yobs for Niero San in the future... (Salutes)

The King of Games UPDATE: Japan-only shirts now available in US / Nintendo Museum video / New shirts?
Phist | 9:55 AM on 09.19.2007 8 comments

Way back in the ye olde days of the Clogs, I posted about The King of Games. KOG reaches the inner video game hipster inside all of us (nevermind, I take that back). I've always loved their product despite the astronomical prices (mainly due to the costs of importing, not forgetting to mention their high standards of quality). The Electronic Pocket (Game & Watch), Mother and Famicom shirts are my top picks. AngelsDontBurn would be all about the Balloon Fight.

So here's the latest:

"...we've put up a secret page for another line of EDITMODE "game lifestyle" shirts. Quite a few of you have been asking about these shirts after spotting them on the Japanese KOG site, and we're pleased to make them available for y'all outside of Japan."

They look so purdy:

It comes to around $40 per shirt plus $13 for shipping to North America. OUCH! Not suitable for the average gamer's budget, but they do look pretty tight. Click here to jump to the new shirts in the online shop.

If you haven't seen already, Gamevideos has a Nintendo Museum feature with the KOG crew. Spanning almost 15 minutes, very cool:

And, another quick mention of future products:

"Despite the lack of activity on the KOG site, we've been busy taking care of a couple upcoming designs that we're very excited about. They're not quite ready yet, but hopefully we'll have some good news soon. If you haven't seen it already, take a look at the "IT'S COMING" teaser on the KOG site. Those of you "in the know" will figure it out quickly..."

Okay, there's an animated pic under "It's Coming". It pans from a blue sky down to a wooden bench on some grass with a gift box sitting on it. I have no fucking clue. Bastards. Whatever these crazy Japanese trendsetters are trying to tell us, I guarantee the hotness.

I'll post about the new shirts when they drop...
