Yes, you heard me right.
Thunderbirds, on the GBA.
This was, in fact, my very first game - I was a late starter. Sure, it wasn't great, but even to my 8 year old hands, it provided a little challenge, it took me forever to get past that bloody second level. It was in TB2, and I had to rescue hostages that were walking about a huge (Or so it seemed to me at the time) level with a little installation in it. The controls were so imprecise I found myself continually bashing against the walls, and so ran out of time. I don't think there was a particular plot reason why I had a time limit, but, meh. I suppose the best level was the driving one, which played kind of like a 2D shooter, it was pretty fun. But yes, it was thunderbirds. On the GBA. A licensed game. But regardless, it was the reason I bought my GBA, and I never looked back! Next game I bought was Yoshi's island, and as you can see, it made a slight impression on me. I got the rest of the GBA mario rereleases too, but they weren't as good. So, still being in love with our hero of unknown species, I went out and got myself a gamecube, with a nice shiny [s]new[/s]preowned copy of smash bros melee (And if you're reading this nintendo, BRING OUT BRAWL IN THE DAMN UK, you bastards), and mario sunshine. If there are any sunshine haters here, just get out, you're wrong. It may not be as good as 64, and now galaxy, but it was a damn good game. Smash bros was pretty good too, but with [s]no friends[/s]no gaming friends, it wasn't as good as it could have been. In any case, my new favorite character was Samus Aran, He was awesome. Then I got his trophy, and holy shit, samus is a woman?! Epic. So, armed with my new fangled internet thingy, I ran a quick intersphere search, and got a list of games. Prime for the GC and Zero mission for the GBA soon followed me home, like small children to a 40 year old pervert's house. And I loved them, I mean, really fucking loved them. Really. Really. Really. And if there is anyone here who doesn't love metroid, you haven't played it enough, go download not ZSNES and a not Super metroid ROM and don't play it. (You'll need to not sign up to the site, but it's a good not site, with no not viruses (Yet, always run a not virus scan)), you won't regret it, I promise. Where was I? Oh yeah, I loved them. However, the GC was a commercial failure, and there weren't that many more good games for it, and due to the GBA's shitty screen and the fact I'd played so much mario my right button no longer worked (No, really), I sort of kinda fell out with gaming a little. OK, so there was a period I didn't game much at all. Then I got my first PC, and was a PC gamer for a while, but eventually technology moved on, and I didn't. So I took up computer programming, tried to make my own games, and started playing a lot more indie games. My first experience of coding was with the crappily named 'game maker', and the unnoficial community, 64digits, which I'm still an active member of, because frankly, it's fucking awesome. Then I got my new hardware, and though I'm already starting to fall behind the times (Can play Bioshock on high... can't play crysis at all, I need a 9600, damnit.), I'm a lot happier with my hardware now, and once I get the cash together, I'm-a buy one, and install it. And spent 3 days getting everything to work like it was before, just faster. (:D) Oh, I've got a Wii thing, but I didn't even bother to turn it on to get the nintendo channel. Eh, I'll probably buy a bucketload of VC games and play through them one day. Metroid Prime three is not a metroid game, I was SO SAD. It's bloody halo in zoomer's clothing. And it's crappy clothing too, like a really really bad cosplay made of chocolate. So, yeah, that's my story. Now, shall I play a bit more SM (Will never get bored of it), or a little bit of portal, maybe? FEAR? Half life? Oh, the choices, and I don't even have to change the disk. Technology, eh?
