New video walkthrough showing single-player gameplay. No big spoilers if you've been following the news on this title.

Oh, wow! They took my favorite parts from the first game and made them into the main game mechanic. This is shaping up to be lovely.

Duh, I was just being a dick because there's only a link in this blog. Can you write about your impressions of the walkthrough or something? Give me something to work with here.

@Char: Just trying to keep it short and sweet.

My impressions: Freakin' sweet. Glad you get to carry the sisters on your shoulder instead of having them follow you around on foot.

Thanks for the post, any Bioshock 2 news is usually good news in my books. Still think they should have kept Sea of Dreams.

Short and sweet? You mean like the FORUMS?

@Mag: Sorry I didn't post a dissertation on this. Personally, I never check the forums, and I thought the cblogs would give this better exposure to those who were interested.

Here's where you go wrong: you extreme-ify statements to make others look like idiots. But I'm not falling for it.

We don't want a front-page worthy dissertation, just a few sentences on what you thought. This is the community "blogs", not community "links". "Personally", a lot of people check the forums; just because you don't doesn't mean they aren't there.

I decided that I never said anything constructive:

He's 1-hitting those Splicers with an infinite use weapon, and gloating about it. This looks very, very lame. It also looks exactly the same as 1. As in, they ported it, and used pre-recordings for the voices.

Bioshock 1 Expansion Pack at bargain price for the win?

It's that hard to make a post with something more than a link?

I may have came off strong, but the reason no one uses the forums is because people blog things like this, just because it's easier. It also pushes down another quality blog that someone wrote off the front page, outside of most people's view, who will only read what they see.

If I had nothing to say about the video, I would have just emailed it to tips@destructoid.com so everyone could see it.

@Mag

The one hit kills are probably just for the demo videos. Most of the time when companies demo a game they give themselves a bunch of powerful stuff so they don't have to experience death and start over again. Also, I'm quite sure that almost every sequel ever looks similar to its predecessor.

But besides that, the game play looks fantastic. I'm just really hoping that the story isn't overwrought and silly but I think I'm asking for a bit too much there.

yeah i just watched the vid.. it does seem exactly the same..and from what i remember in reading the previews.. the drill is always going to be a one hit kill. I am not sure about this one...

Looks great to me. I don't care if it looks the same, it's a sequel.

The drill, like Woverine said, I think is still going to be a 1 hit kill for regular Splicer enemies. If you listen to the way the narrator talks in this vid, he obviously lets you know that you're super strong, and that "it will take a whole mob to take you down". I don't think it was a 100% test build, because the flame plasmid still did horrible damage.

Also, sequels can vastly differ from their predecessors (it's a little too much considering the platform jump, but see MGS2, etc, in terms of style). What I'm saying is the UI is exactly the same, the setting is exactly the same (although there will be "untouched parts of Rapture" in the final build), the animations are exactly the same, hell, except for the Big Sister, even the enemies are the same!

Though you have your doubts about it's story, my prediction is that it will actually be it's strongest point (I expect to gasp at least once or twice). In my opinion, Bioshock 1 fell off fast, story-wise, after the twist.

My personal big twist guess is that Bioshock 2 will pull a "Metal Gear Solid 2 OMG there's tons of Rays, not just 1" for the Big Sister.

While BioShock 2 is being worked on by a different studio, that doesn't mean it is being worked on by different people. Here, Watch Anime a BioShock 1 veteran takes us through nine minutes of BioShock 2.
Now, if you are precious about this type of thing, there might be spoilers within. Might. They don't know! If they don't know the plot, how can they know if it is being spoiled?

Bioshock 2 is a tough game to cross if you donot play it regulary The game is set in the fictional underwater dystopia of Rapture, in a biopunk/dieselpunk 1968, eight years after the events of BioShock. The protagonist and player-controlled character is a Big Daddy, a being that has had its organs and skin grafted into an atmospheric diving suit. Nagraj comics Among the first of its kind, the player-controlled Big Daddy, named Subject Delta, reactivates with no recollection of the past decade's events, and scours the city in an attempt to relocate the Little Sister that he was paired with.
