And I mean anything.
2. I agree. It's hard to balance though, because rocket launchers would make the game too easy. Overall, it's not really about the combat, it's about the atmosphere and teamwork.
3. We are now discovering that the difficulty of the demo is a joke compared to the real game. People who could speedrun the demo on Expert are getting slaughtered in the later chapters of the game on lower difficulty levels. The reason the demo was easy was because it was the very beginning of the game.
4. A map system would ruin the game. The levels are small enough that it's not needed, and the tension of not knowing if this hallway is going to lead to the safe room or a deadend where you'll be murdered by the Horde is a huge portion of the fun of the game.
You sir, are one picky motherfucker. The game looks amazing, and the character models and animation of the zombies still look far better than most games of today. Fuck, there is more expression in the zombies of left4dead than there were in COD4, Mirrors Edge, Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and Dead Space combined.
Crap arsenal? It's a zombie apocalypse! Where are you going to find an RPG or firesword while running around a hospital? I admit more/location specific weapons would be awesome, but come on man, it's the end of the world here. Besides, you get the pistol, shotgun, smg, rifle, auto-shotgun, hunting rifle, molotov, pipebomb, chain gun and petrol tanks; there is still plenty there to have fun with.
If you are playing it with bots, then I agree with you, the game is not as good as it can be. But playing with 3 other PEOPLE on expert and helping eachother to survive a zombie outbreak is just plain fucking fun.
If you just aren't in to zombie apocolypses, or you just can't get in to it, then that's too bad, because the game is pretty much intensely fun to play; I've played the demo levels about 30 times myself.
I don't know HOW you are getting lost, or "wandering around", because the levels are some of the most linear in existance and if you wander around for more than a minute without being attacked then you are playing on normal, and that is your first mistake.
The game isn't meant to be "scary". It's meant to be tense and focused around teamwork to make your way through scenarios with hordes of zombies, and that is exactly what it is. I don't know why you were expecting anything else.
But if you don't like it, then don't play it. Just take note of the fact that at this time, it is now the top selling game on Steam; and it is so for a very good reason, it's FUN to play.
Like, Gabe Newell said so himself.
ARGH, I wish you loved it, but whatever, to each their own.
I personally consider it my GOTY right now, and I've only beat one campaign...on normal...cause yes, its haaaard, phew.
Also upgrade your computer.
you sir are a fool
2. GTFO or stop trolling.
The graphics are good enough and until they give you eye cancer, quit bitching. The weapons are limited due to this being a survival horror, forcing you to pick and choose what suits you. No one gun has much of an advantage over another and when using them together, they're great. The levels are a bit confusing, but it offers multiple paths to take to your goal.
Cant argue the scary thing cause that's opinion, but I'd like to congratulate you. Good job on wasting five bucks on the haunted house just so you can tell your friends how you're not scared.
if it's supposed to be like a survival horror, why the hell would you be thrown a bunch of weapons? Hell Valve was nice enough to give us what we got. Cause we could just roam around the city with just a pistol, 2 clips, and no ammo refills. If we REALLY want to be "Survival Horror"
The game's not supposed to be scary. I mean that's if you're scared by these type of games. I find it more like a classic mesh of horror movies...which aren't scary, but have the usual "random kill" or "hoard of zombies" coming out of nowhere. Then the 1-2 monsters you either can't kill, can't kill alone, or run from. I don't understand why it has to be scary because it has monsters and zombies in it.
I somewhat agree on the map bit. But only cause i've lately become a map whore. (which i'm usually not.) But it adds to the already fear effect to the game (which isn't much.) Granted, add a map, and the game isn't fun anymore and random enemies won't pop out, smokers won't come out of nowhere trying to lynch you, and it's just boring.
the only problem I have is the knockdown bit. It's nice, but in the harder stages, about 3-4 hits from zombies will have your ass down for good. But...it adds to the game.
2) Retarded arguement. They are fun to shoot, small arsenal's not a problem. Survival, etc.
3) Not meant to be scary. It's tense, etc. Although I freaked out the first time I saw the horde, and the first time I was attacked by a witch.
And yeah, on expert the zombies do quite a bit of damage.
4) That you can get lost in that game is pathetic.
1. Graphics. Graphics suck. no offense, but I found every level o look kinda outdated. But maybe that's because I'm so used to seeing good looking games like Gears of War, Crysis, and Killzone 2? Maybe?
And for all you haters out there: I know graphics may not be a valid reason to totally hate on a game, but it sure can help if you put it together with 'meh' gameplay, which brings me to my next point...
2. The gameplay is not innovative. That's fine, but the game doesn't even seem like it was even going for a "perfects the survival genre" type of thing, either. It's just a mindless run & gun game in my opinion. (yes, I know you have to rely on your friends from time to time, but you had to do this even more in games like Gears of War co-op (or horde) and Halo 3 campaign)
3. Where's the Southern Asian dude? Seriously, we need some sand niqqa love in games like these. We brown people are smart, athletic, and know how to work a gun (LOLOLOLOLOLOL).
4. look @ 3
Of course, the mindless Valve lemmings will flock to it and shower it with praise whether it's deserved or not.
I've only played the demo myself and felt indifferent on the gameplay. Sure it had its moments, but I wasn't really "feeling" it. It felt almost like playing a well-designed Half-Life 2 zombie mod.
Shit, now that I think about it... L4D kinda did seem like that.
also, left 4 dead is pretty dope, too bad it's not your thing but to each his own.
Also: Forums are that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
God, its so nice turning the tables for once...I am absolutely fucking cruel as a zombie...and with NO remorse.
NONE.
You mean like... Counter Strike, or Team Fortress, or the Ship, or... just about every non Half Life game made by Valve. My only gripe is that it's really a multi player game only. The single player is cheap and pointless, but the co-op and vs is some of the most fun I've had in an FPS in a long time.
the arsenal could be much better, some submacine guns and more pistols would be nice. if they dropped the entire Counter-strike lineup into the game I would be happy.
it's still a blast though
Those are horrible impressions. :\ I don't know what you were playing, definitely not the same game I've been playing.
