An aging hand at all of this, from the Golden Age of the 2600 to the networked crap of today. Been there, done that, wants more.

Inane Facts:

* Once had aspirations of becoming an Apple // software pirate (What? Like you were never 14...).

* Has attended at least two conventions a year since 1995.

* While working at Micro Center's distribution warehouse in the summer of 2000, witnessed over 200 copies of Daikatana set to be shipped to one store and one store alone.

* Was once paid in parts while working at a small computer repair shop.

* Co-Accepted the Origins Game of the Year Award for Hackmaster.

* Perhaps the first man in North America to cosplay a character from Cave Story (the Doctor).

* Once played Street Fighter the Movie: The Game on a PS3 that never worked properly since. The game became known for it's destructive properties.

Perhaps it's the accumulation of a lifetime of gaming. Perhaps it was just an ambition I knew I could achieve. Perhaps I wanted something I could put in the background of a video. Perhaps I wanted to do something with all my extra equipment. Or just perhaps I wanted something to show off.

Behold what I call The Institute. One part video game store and one part Ozymandias' video wall. Collecting systems is something that most Destructoid readers have done, that's no surprise. The televisions, however are the legacy of volunteering for conventions and tournaments over the years. Picked up at garage sales, thrift stores, and family members; there was never a question of not being able to lend screens.

Two power strips are mounted in the back, and all cables and wires are kept tightly bundled. Twist ties and zip ties exist for a reason. The whole setup is on wheels; not only for ease of movement, but also allowing me to clean my floor. Really, there's no excuse to not keep your home clean, and I don't want to hear them.

Looking at it also makes me think about how so much old AV equipment is out there on the cheap. When I was a kid, something like this would of been an excess luxury. But now, it's something that's almost too easy to accomplish. I guess this really is the future.

Wow, what a setup! I wouldn't know where to start playing with a setup like that! Good job!

I'm actually going to be doing something similar to this next year. Luckily for me the easiest part is going to be getting the TV's and seeing as how Goodwill sells them for like 10 bucks I should be able to get as many as I need.

Nice to see another fellow retro fan out there. Hope to see some more setup/game collection posts in the future.

I'm loving those casters. That's what makes the piece, really. Though I would have bought my casters with brakes. Don't want anybody breaking 4 tv's, and a bunch of consoles. You have like $60 sitting on that top heavy monstrosity.

There are breaks. Guess you can't see them.

I understand wanting to have the PS1 out where you can see it, as I love displaying my things, but I probably would've settled for just the PS2. Of course, my PS2 won't play FFVIII. So I guess I retract my statement. Cool set up.
