Today the European "exclusive" songs for RockBand hit the PSN and as always I download all the songs, because I have a strange obsession with collection and thus need ALL songs. The problem is though some songs are really nice to have like "Beetlebum" and "Hysteria", other songs like "Perfekte Welle" or "Monsoon" will provoke disgusts from friends I play RockBand with.

"Perfekte Welle" is generic German PopRock and is hated on by most Germans nowadays because it was on heavy rotation on almost every music station at the time it got released. Still that will be kind of OK with most people. But TokioHotel is by far the most hated on band in Germany. They make OK music, though nothing special I would want to listen too, but since their primary target market are teens in Germany, most adults won't listen to them.

Now everytime I play RockBand my friends will make fun of me, because I downloaded these songs, and the songs will be avoided by them. Though perhaps if I can convince them to to play the song, they might even enjoy it, because everybody knows the songs thanks to heavy rotation. (I will have to prepare a copy of the German lyrics of "Monsoon" for that moment.)

For me RockBand is fun to play, because I can play songs I know, make some strange poses while playing guitar or singing and make fun of it and not because I enjoy listen to all of them. Actually I wouldn't enjoy listening to a lot of the songs in RockBand on my mp3-player, but actually playing them is different.



On a totally different note: The PixelJunk Monsters OST hit PSN tonight and if you played the game you already know, that it is totally fantastic. The cover actually has the main characters with headphones on, which is really cute. The download process is really strange though. You download an install package, that installs as a game on your PS3, and this game installs the OST to your music folder on the PS3. Why exactly did they do that? It's not even DRM protected or anything.
