Persona 3 starts in two days.
ParaParaKing | 6:20 PM on 04.05.2009 26 comments

Two weeks ago I asked in the forums if anybody would love to participate in a simultaniously playthrough of Persona 3 on a daily or weekly basis.

So if you don't read the forums or missed the thread, here's what I wrote:

After watching the Persona 4 Endurance Run videos on giantbomb every day, I had the crazy idea, that it would be fun to play through Persona 3 alongside the in-game calendar, that starts in the night of April 7th in 2009 and ends on January 31st 2010. But instead of doing this alone, maybe it would be fun to do it with multiple people. Everbody would play only up to the point, where the in-game date matches the actual date. Then they could post here about what they did or with whom they formed social links in the game. It would be really interesting to hear about the different ways of playing the game and discuss the current in-game events here.

Players, who were interested in Persona 3 but afraid of the enoramous time investment can use this as an easy way to finally play the game, because the playtime would be stretched out over almost 9 months resulting in only a few minutes every day. Players, who already finished the game, can replay the game by using the NewGame+ feature, enjoy the story and maybe help first time players, who are stuck in certain parts.

Would anybody like to participate in something like that?

So if anybody else is interested, go over to the thread in the forums or leave a comment here.

Good idea. I'd join if I had P3. Before you say buy it: I need to buy food too...

I loved that game, but I can't imagine having the necessary dedication to pull off an endurance run like that.

An admirable idea, but I would probably have trouble resisting the urge to play more than one ingame day per sit down.

I like the idea, but there's one problem. How're you gonna handle the exam weeks? And any other time that the days just pass on by without being able to save or otherwise?

I couldn't see myself doing well on this though. Playing for only a few minutes a day...I'd be too tempted to jump ahead.

I really had the idea of doing this waaay back when I first got the game. But figured it wouldn't work.

now thinking about it...I may join...but seeing i'm too slow in finishing the game, i'd have to wait for you guys to catch up.

I would so do that if

2. I had the time to do it

You know what, even though I haven't actually beaten the game yet, and I have no idea how well I'll be able to commit to doing this every day... I'll start a new save and say YES do doing this with you ParaParaKing.

I'd do it, but I don't have P3, maybe I'll join with P4 instead and confuse everyone with my daily updates?

I could never do this. It would be so goddamn agonizingly slow, and some days would just be talking to one person and that's all that happened. ew.

Plus there are days where you can't save.

Hmm I should do this. It might be the only way I'll actually finish the game.

I have a new game+ file I've barely gotten into since I just finished this a couple weeks ago, and I was thinking about doing this same thing as closely as I could manage. Hmmm...

If I'm not burnt out after The Answer I just might.

For the lulz: Beat The Answer in one day on 3/31, from 12:00AM to 11:59PM.

I would be up for trying that, but i haven't played through it yet so that would just take up a lot more time than I planned on giving it once I actually start. If it gets done, keep us updated though. I'd like to hear how it goes.

I will totally roll with this idea. I have yet to play play P3 or 4 for more then 5 hours. This is a great idea.

To clear things up:
Multiple times a couple of days are skipped and you can't save on those days, but it's OK if you save after them, because everybody else will most likely do the same thing.

Also you don't have to play it daily. You can also skip some days and then catch up later.

I will be playing from a bad ending NewGame+ save on P3FES.

I'm already heading towards the end of Persona, so I'm counting myself out.

But that said, what year is Persona 4 set in, btw?
