So there's tons of different types of games coming out on mobile phones, and there are a lot that are obviously not really good, but there are some that ARE good, if you give it a chance, but is mobile phone gaming really that popular, or are developers just putting games out on mobile phones to help make that extra cash? I just downloaded my first mobile phone game officially a couple days ago, and it was "Tower Bloxx 3D". I heard it was a pretty popular game, and that it was fun and addictive, so I decided to check it out. You just stack blocks on top of each other to make a tower, then you place it on a square in your town, your population grows, and your town status goes up. That's the only game that I've bought, and I don't know why, but DDR and Final Fantasy don't seem like they'd work really good on a mobile phone. What do you guys think about this? Is mobile phone gaming actually pretty popular, and are any of you guys mobile phone gamers?
Popular when the game is high quality. Most of Gameloft's games are pretty good, such as the Prince of Persia or Splinter Cell phone games. However I didn't pay for those games so I may be attributing popularity to them simply because I got them for free.
I keep my DS/PSP with me practically at all times, but I distinctly recall some cool games for my old RAZR. Damn if I couldn't stop playing Lemonade Tycoon all through my classes.
I work in mobile games. Porting them to various devices on each carrier. Fun stuff!
There have been a few that we've seen that are really stellar. I'd play them outside of work if I really played mobile/portable (I barely touch my DS).
I think the market though is definitely this early teenage and younger crowd, so far as mobile phone "gamers" are concerned. The thing with it is that once someone buys a new phone, they want to put something on it. I don't think there's an established hardcore gamer base on mobile. Its incredibly lucrative, if for nothing else, because of how prolific the platform is. Everyone has a cell phone.
IMO, I think mobile games will mostly go under the radar until someone finds away to link the home console experience to a cell phone experience directly. Mini games to earn in game gold, ability to check your in game mailbox, coordinating MMO guild actions via a cool phone interface, etc
i had pheonix wright on my old phone, which wasn't all that bad, actually. it used airtime though, which i thought was messed up. sonic, which i have now is a great remake, but its got some slowdown issues, which is understandable cause..well..its a cell phone.
but tetris is always a must..its a classic time killer.
oh yea, i got monopoly too, that was fun for awhile..but it got old quick.

about me
Well, I'm just your normal 16 year kid that's in high school, and happens to be a webmaster and blogger. I blog about everything that I like. I have a personal blog, gaming blogs, and some other different technology blogs. I make websites for people as a freelance job, to help make money for my future college entrance, but until then, I'll just do it freelance, and not as a complete 24/7 job.

Well, I guess I'll talk about my interests. Well, I like skateboarding, and am an amateur snowboarder, and like to hang out with friends whenever I get the chance to. I own a Nintendo DS, a GameCube, a Wii, NES, SNES, N64, GBA, PS2, and PS1. I love RPG's and platformers, and am a huge Nintendo fan (hence the Nintendo site that I run).

The phone version of Assassin's Creed is actually really good.

Yeah, I heard that Assassin's Creed was good, but it's still pricey. :(
