Which has been the best console you have owned?
We'll forget about this current crop of consoles as they're still doing battle.
Heres a quick selection of consoles past.

The Sega Genesis/Megadrive

The Super Nintendo (with added german!)

Sega Dreamcast

And a quick overview from our friends at GT

Like I said in a previous post, the PS classics, SOTN excepted, haven't aged well at all. My vote goes to the SNES with the PS2 as a close second.

360. I know it's early in it's life, but I've not been this happy with a system since my original NES.

@tazar

When it works you mean. YES I SO WENT THERE...

But seriously, the 360 is overrated imho, all of the worth while games are available in better versions on the PC...

I would say the PC is the best 'console' ever but it's not a console.

I've had mine for nearly 3 years now and I've never had a problem with it, and I completely disagree about how the "better" versions are on the PC. You would have to pay way more then a 360 to be able to enjoy it as easily as you can on the 360 version of whatever game you may be talking about.

Yeah I've been loving my 360 ever since I got it, but still the SNES and DC win it for me.

I never owned a dreamcast personally, but I have to say my childhood was mostly spent with my Sega and then a bit on my nintendo for the mario games, it was only when I grew up I went back to them for the better games like Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy etc. But I've played most Dreamcast games that were ported to PS2 etc and I loved them all, It's such a shame Segas' console had to go away I'd have loved to see what they'd have done now rather than just making The Club >.>

The Sega Genesis is the best console IMO. Ah, the good 'ol days of Sonic. Too bad, the series is at an all-time low now...*sigh*

In the time that the 360 existed I've payed... 0 euros for my PC, games are also cheaper. PC costs are very exaggerated by the opponents. YouKilledMyGuy went into that quite recently.

The PS1 hasn't aged well?? Let me get this straight. the system that brought us: FF7, Metal Gear Solid, Front Mission3, FF tactics, Castlevania:Symphony of the Night, Cnrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, Wipout, Twisted Meatal, Suikoden, Vandal Hearts, Lunar, Super Street Fighter Puzzle2, Crash Bandicoot, Vagrant Story, Tekken 1-3, The Legacy of Kain Series..seriously..I can go on.

Are you kidding me?? Major Omission and fail because of it.

I won't even mention the PS2. Instead of your blog title title being what it was maybe you should just title it: My love for the SNS and Dreamcast.

@Y0j1mb0

A lot of PS1 games, especially the early ones, have not aged well at all. They suffer from the 2D to 3D growing pains of the time. Case in point the original Warhawk, I played it a few times when it first came out and because I've been playing so much of the PS3 version I decided to check the original out again. After downloading it from the PSN store all I can say is "Yikes."

Aside from those damned DRE issues, the PS2 is quite a system, if for no other reason than its prolific library of games.

But I have to say the Dreamcast version of SoulCalibur (forgive me if I retro goggle) was the absolutely best looking and most fluid version of Soul Calibur ever.

@Y0j1mb0

And most of those I can't play anymore, SOTN excepted. The SNES games hold up rather well but the PS1 games don't, for me that is. I've tried most of them quite recently because I never owned a PS1 and only played them at my friends and they just don't hold up well. The 16 bit era doesn't have this problem because of the sprites but the 32bit era does... I'm not saying these games wheren't great for the time but they suffer a lot from "1st gen 3d-ism". The PS2 is very close to being the best console ever though.

I agree on the PS1 hasn't aged well camp. The 3D games, anyway.

My console of choice is the SNES. Second is the Game Boy Advanced and third I guess would be the 360. I haven't owned each and every console out there so my choices are basically limited. I still need to buy a PS2. I've missed out on so many great games.

MAN this is a tough question.
for me, it's a tie between the SNES and the PS2. RPGs baby.
(with the NES right behind that)

Best consoles that I've owned would be the SNES and the PS2, each for not only having a huge library of games, but alot of those games are classics. Each of those system have more good games than most of the current gen systems.
