How in the holy living hell do you embed videos. I remember someone telling me that I have to use BBCode instead of HTML but despite me knowing how to do some basic BBCode I can't find the proper command to get embedding YouTube videos going. Any help?

Use the embed videos area on the left of the screen. You put in the embed URL and it gives you an embed code. (It puts the file in the basket.)

To the right of the text entry box on new blog entry there is a side panel that has a tool that converts HTML to BBcode.
