I finally got around to watching the newest episode of Heroes, and I have to say I was more interested in it than I have been in a while, but it still a lot of convoluted back and forth. No straight path to the narrative. And I don't know why that continues to be the path that they travel more often than not.
I understand the TV season is long, and there are many weeks that the gap between where we are, and how we got there needs lots of filling, but I can't think of a show that consistantly provides this many more questions than answers, and how the plot gets continually twisted to the point of it turning blue in the face. If you haven't watched the episode, don't keep reading. With so many leaps in logic, and so many of the characters gettins pushed, pulled and prodded to the point of dissolving what we once thought them to be is becoming womewhat unbearable. Sylar goes from being the bogeyman, to being a happy dad who for some odd reason is showering praise on Mr Muggles...HUH? Peter is the new Sylar, and Claire killed "future Peter", even though Peter has the same 'not gonna die' powers as Claire. He proved his ability after he saved Claire in season 1, and has since healed himself just like her after that. So how did he get a huge scar across his future face? Especially when you consider that heals JUST LIKE FUCKING CLAIRE. Why is the future always the main cog? For all intents and purposes, if they could continue to change the future, and travel back and forth, then saving the world would always happen, as well as at some point, ending the world. There would always be 5 Peters (not in the porn way) flipping around time...So wouldn't that be the retarded result of the convoluted 'future self' leading the way for 'present self' so that 'past self' doesn't lose its way? If that didn't make sense, good. You now get the show...Much of it makes no sense. Even though Claire can't die, she got back with Peter awfully fast, and had him tied down, inflicting pain on him right after Sylar exploded...So where is Sylar. He can't die either...AND Daphne 'wasn't fast enough'....That seemed like an overly created dramatic moment that was out of place. Parkman seems to be the most useless "Heroe" of them all at this point. Now he is in Africa, and he will follow his 'totem', a fuckin turtle, to lead him. Very fitting. He really has no reason to be in the show. If there was an underground war between the 'born' and the 'made', wouldn't Parkman be the most likely candidate to be one of the early victims to almost any other of the heroes? Then we have Mohinder, and the super English speaking Mia...Amazing how quickly she lost that accent of hers...And future Mohinder crawls fast? At least they didn't make him look like Brundel-Fly all the way...So I guess that's a bonus. No? And if Peter is the time traveller super man, why wouldn't Mohinder just have told him that he injected himself with a broken formula, and where/when he did that injecting? Wouldn't that have at least helped to save Mohinder from his all together creepy future self? And now we know that Heroes is racist...It HAD to be a black guy killing a little white kid...;) I'm not a big comic guy, and only know this because after I saw Iron Man I was checking out stuff on the Avengers and Marvel heroes in general. But it seems more and more that the Heroes, and the underground war is being ripped from the war between the super heroes who fought for and against the powers registration act...No? It doesn't seem to be ver original, aside from the all powerful formula that somehow became available en masse, and has stock brokers flying like the last son of Krypton. Seriously though, with all the nonsense, and all the retardedness, and insanity I am still driven to watch. I think I'm watching for the wrong reasons though...Just like "The Two Coreys" this is turning into a trainwreck, and hey, who doesn't love to see a trainwreck? At least this trainwreck is amusing though, even if it creates more stupid questions and asshole "future versions" of characters...I can't see them being able to carry on like this though for a lot longer. At some point exposition will need to give way to explanation, and the quandry these 'new' characters find themselves in will be forced to give us an answer. Even if that answer isn't the one we want, or that solves the mystery. It's funny, but the Mohinder quote in his journal entry seems to wrap up what this season of Heroes has been, and is leading to..."The formula is transforming me, and I fear, I fear what I'm becoming".

Are you familiar with Lost, sir?
But I am actually enjoying watching it. It isn't perfect but unlike Season 2, I actually WANT to watch it and don't feel like I HAVE to watch it since I started it.
Also, I'm actually enjoying this season way more than I did 2.
How do they writers do it?!??!! It's as easy as not talking to each other about the storyline. What does [blank] have to do with [blank]? They'll think about it when they're writing the last episode.
Although that seems a little odd as we've seen Claire revive after worse, or even Bennett coming back to life altogether after being shot in the head. Though it could be that Peter's regeneration isn't as 'automatic' as Claire's, but who knows.
As for Parkman being essentially cannon fodder, don't forget that in season 2 we discovered he can Jedi Mindtrick pretty much anyone into doing whatever he wants, so he could potentially be one of the most powerful Heroes, rather than the weakest.
"Burn Bright, Ted! Burn Bright!"
Interesting thing about Peter though: Future Peter has the power to lock people inside other people. I wonder what hero they're going to introduce that can do that. Maybe the other Ali Larter triplet?
And I am still curious as to why they regarded future Peter as a criminal.
I think the writers are very clever, because before Lost and Heroes, very few shows would give unknown actors a break with something fresh and new. Heroes is the next best thing to having the Xmen on your tv, and I love how its all playing out.
As for ep4, Daphne would have died anyway, if not from burns it would have been from the radiation poisoning of Sylars nuke blast. The formula and those who created it hold the keys to what's really going on.
The scar on future Peter's face I think, is from his previous encounter with future Hiro (from Hiro's sword), see late series one/early two for that fight.
Truth of the whole thing is, our future always has infinite possibilities and outcomes. Changing a bad one, doesn't mean something else bad won't replace it. I can't wait to see won't happens next with that thought in mind.
Parkman's power is the one that allows to lock someone in someone's body, remember his father? Same powers....
Another thing, wouldn't past Peter now have all of future Peter's powers since they were in close proximity to one another? And during that standoff at Sylar's couldn't Peter just have frozen time and knocked-out/force-choked everyone? Even Daphne moves at normal speed when someone freezes time, more than enough time for Peter to grab her or burn her or worse.
Too many stupid "what ifs" or "why didn't he". I'll still watch it though. Damn TV!!
who the hell is Jessica? Niki's dad acknowledged the name in season 1 and there was a picture of her, if the writers just pull some shit like "Barbara was also adopted by the Sanders and they changed her name" I'll quit watching.
Jessica was Niki's parents' biological daughter. If I remember correctly, Jessica was older than Niki, and Niki didn't know that she was adopted. She doesn't really have much to do with the storyline other than that's one of the multiple personalities Niki had.
About the episode:
Ma Petrelli was right, Peter isn't nearly as smart as he thinks he is, and I wish he would learn his lesson already, because it's apparent the writers don't have the cajones to kill him off.
That being said, I'm really beginning to like the direction they're taking Sylar (Gabriel seems more fitting at this point). I was one of those people who didn't want to see him have a redemption arc, but that was back when we assumed that the character was just a superpowered psychopath, and that his power didn't cause that murderous tendency to begin with. It might just be that Zachary Quinto is a damn better actor than the majority of people on this show, but Future!Gabriel seemed a far more well-rounded and believeable character than Sylar was in the past two seasons.
If this season turns out to be worth anything, it'll be due to Cristine Rose (Angela Petrelli), Jack Coleman (Mr. Bennet), and Zachary Quinto (Sylar/Gabriel). Cristine Rose deserves a fucking Emmy already for what she adds to this show in my opinion.
Oh, and David Anders (Adam Monroe/Kensei from S.2) too. God, I didn't realize how much I missed him until he chokes Hiro. xD
It's like watching The Godfather series, then turning around and putting in Rambo. Kinda.
They should remove the following things from the show:
Parkman and his turtle
Nikki because she's a whiny useless bitch
Adam Monroe because who gives a shit about season 2?
some other random parts that really don't matter
And add more blood and nukes. Then I could at least justify watching it for the shits and giggles.
and comparing this season (story, plot, acting, whatever) to season two is nothing. It's like comparing a pile of vomit to a puddle of shit.
One's too solid and the other's too runny, but who gives a fuck? It's shit and vomit!
What happened to Micahs cousin? I kind of enjoyed her storyline and what it added to Micahs.
Angela Patrelli has too much mystery to her to have been around for 2 1/2 seasons and have had little to nothing be revealed about her. I think that's one of the more interesting things about what I've seen so far this season, because it looks like they may start to get into her role.
