PSN Store Overhaul in April?

So the whole Destination PlayStation thats been going on has released a bit of good news, such as the likes of the Dualshock release date, the God of War PSP, and a few others. Now another interesting leak just came out. According to a few sources there, the PlayStation Store is finally getting a graphical user interface overhaul, one planned to arrive alongside Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on April 15 (and the Dualshock I might add). Supposedly the revamp of the Store is going to look more along the lines of the SingStore, which is from Singstar (obviously). If this is the case, then it is definitely a step in the right direction. The current store is a bit clunky and annoying to navigate and a revamp of the userface will definitely be welcomed.

There is not a whole lot of other details, but word is that the navigation would change to a series of icons running along the bottom of the interface. This is yet to be officially confirmed, but looks in line with the releases and changes Sony is making around that time. Spring looks to be big for Sony and if the changes so far arent enough, hopefully Home is still on that Spring release schedule too. If Sony can manage all this, the rest of the year is looking excellent for them.   read

DualShock 3 Dated For US - April

There is more word from the retailer conference Destination PlayStation that the DualShock 3—you know, that DualShock we've been waiting for since the PS3's launch—has gotten a US release date.

Set to launch April 15th for $54.99, it's slated to coincide with the release of GT5 Prologue. Theres going to be hordes of people whining about the price as I've already seen, but for the love of God its $5 more. Yeah yeah it should be $50, people will probably even say lower than that, but thats the price this time around for next gen controllers whether we like it or not.

Will I complain about $5, no. Do I really care that much? No. I have my rumble, I will be satisfied.....oh and its only $5.   read

GDC: Bioware = Need more Penis? What?

This image is from a BioWare session at GDC. Usually nothing too interesting for most of us there, but then what have we? This is a PowerPoint slide about the specifics of recording dialog, especially how far the speaker should be from the mic.

Typically, the answer is 18 inches, but, apparently, there is one exception to that rule, as you can see above. Why do you never hear Ron Jeremy voicing video game characters? Now you know.

Need I say anymore?   read

LBP Lip-Synching = Jack Thompson's Worst Nightmare

Well I personally am looking extremely forward to LittleBigPlanet. The more info I see on it, the more I want it and the more I think its going to be awesome.

But wait!? Theres a dark side where evil lurks. Today, in the latest Edge magazine, it's been revealed that in addition to the emotions and such that your sackboy can perform, there are plans to lip-synch voice chat. That is to say, the characters will move their mouths in roughly the same way you do. Down the line, expect stuff like voice filters, too. Now most of you including myself are thing this idea is actually pretty cool, which I think is extremely understandable. Then it hits me, good ole' Jackie boy has been reigning terror about all these "M" rated games and such, but now this game will come to haunt him.

Verbal abuse over videos games that one can now see in person, oh dear God.... Slanderizing Jack's name....oh dear God yet again. What will we ever do to keep kids away from this game for fear of tainting there pure minds and becoming foul mouthed, punk, little brats?

Who would have ever thought this would be the outcome? I cry for those young souls who will witness the tenacity of this game. Well, ok maybe maybe I just thought this whole thing was funny and wrote it for a chuckle. But I must say, lip-syching ftw!   read

Bad Parent - Kid falls out of car (lol...maybe)

So I'm not even sure how I came across this today when I was looking up some things on the computer. But when I watched it I was like get out of here..... The kid just falls out of the car and the parent doesnt notice until the kid starts walking back to the car. Then the parent walks around the other side of the car.

Hilarity ensued with the film, yet I wonder how dumb of a parent you have to be to let that happen. Seems like something you would here that Michael Jackson or Britney would do.

New Alienware huge curvy gaming monitor (ZOMG SEXY)

Here is a look at the new Alienware new curvy gaming monitor which has 2880x900 resolution with .02 ms response time that is on show at CES 2008.

I got to say...this thing is freakin' awesome!

And for those with sharp eyes you can see the seams a little inbetween the segments, but Alienware assures that this will not be the case when it is released later this year to the public. The price is undisclosed thus far, but undoubtedly one will be shelling out some big bucks for this big beauty.

Heres a quick video of it in action, dont mind the crappy video quality:

Winner: Vii meets the PS3 (What?!$#!)

So we all remember the Vii right? That Chinese knock off of the Wii except much worse. Okay? Good. Well now here comes the Winner! Literally.

The Winner is basically a PS3 knockoff thats rips off the PS3 and sort of the Wii at the same time. While the Vii concentrated on mimicking (horribly, but still) the Wii's feature set, the Winner is all about mimicking the PS3's myriad media functionalities. That means a photo player, karaoke functions, SDHC for media storage. But it's all about the (really crappy) games, right?

Let us not forget that the Winner is going to be packing 2D and 3D graphics with online and motion sensing features (note the totally not-a-Wiimote controller). How much would you expect to pay for the privilege? Did you say $600? No! Did you say $400? No! How does $120-150 sound? What a deal I must say!! (not.....) Good thing they're promising 3 million consoles for the Japanese and North American markets.

Oh China....when will someone put you in your place.....   read

The Club: Time Attack = Sw33t?

So I just saw the preview for this game which was originally slated for this year then seemed to vanish a bit. Sega released a demo to day on the PSN (might be on the 360 too, but idk since I dont own one). Anyway, check out the video of the demo below.

[embed]61645:6380[/embed]

After watching this video it seems kind of a cross between Time Crisis and pure adrenaline. Its setup is different, sure, but that fast past blazing action just gets it going for me. Graphics look pretty good, not amazing, but nice. For me though like I said its purely that run and gun style that caught my eye and something that they can hopefully pull off well enough that the game becomes addicting and fun to play.

There is also a multiplayer part of this game, which has yet to be seen. This will be interesting to see how that pans out and if they can keep that frantic action going. Regardless, it looks to be shaping up as a pretty slick game and hopefully more info on it will surface soon.   read

Making a PSP Pandora Battery in time for Christmas

So I've had a custom PSP for a long time now and decided with Christmas time coming that I would make myself as Pandora battery for my own backup as well as my brother who is getting a PSP for Christmas.

I ran across an article that gives you all the files you need and a very easy guide to follow. So this is for all you who might inquire. As always, the first thing you need to know is a Pandora battery can only be created by a PSP already running custom firmware. There is a way you can hardmod a battery, but I wont get into that. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/573328

Also remember to backup your battery eeprom if you want to turn it back into a normal battery at some point. Dont be like me and back it up then reformat the memory card before copying it to the computer....dumb.

Also this was a random problem I had when I updated to 3.71 m33-4, but my psp wouldnt boot if I had my other memory card in it. After a long time of frustration it turns out it was the plugin folder I had I guess has incompatible plugins and it refused to let the psp boot if the card was in. Also stupid.

I'm also and admin at a psp site so if anyone ever needs help with psp related stuff, I'm your guy.

Velocity Micro Giveaway Contest = Fury Edition Entry

Well it is that time to post my entry as the time is ticking down. The process was frustrating, fun, and infuriating all at the same time.

I figured for the contest it should only be one entry not a buttload of em, plus I didnt have much of a choice..... It was finished on another computer and while I could have continued, I can only go through this pain once. My strength now fails me.

Without further ado my story begins:

And thus concludes my quest for the elusive computer of my current dreams.   read

Blacksite: Area 51 & Just played = Suckage

So a demo is supposed to make you want to buy a game right? Well I just got done playing the short Blacksite: Area 51 demo and it sucked major nuts. The graphics seemed pretty decent....if you didnt move. The framerate dropping and the tearing was so noticeable I almost quit before I finished the demo. Plus the draw distance was something to make a mockery of. I couldnt even tell what the enemies were just down the street, where it should be easily distinguishable.

Oh and the gun sounds really arent that great and the squad isnt that bright either to add in a few more insults to injury.

I'm glad the demo was so short because that was the only thing that spared me. If this is a sample of the whole game....No thanks. I just wish I never downloaded the demo to begin with.

Do yourself a favor and stay away.   read

New Valkyrie of the Battlefield Video

So Sega released a new video for Valkyrie of the Battlefield and I must say everytime I see this game I like it more and more. Just the way its put together and that cell shading has me sold.

The game isnt even confirmed to be released in the West yet, but I sure as hell hope it is. Sega has been letting me down in the past few years, but this game could turn that all around.

Side note. Personally, seeing this as a PS3 exclusive (flame bait) would make my day even better, but I doubt it. But one can always hope.   read
