Breath of Fire II SNES Retranslation Released!

If you didn't know yet, I happen to be a huge fan of the Breath of Fire series. BoF2 is by far my favorite game in the series, and news of a re-translation of its terrible English script got me super-excited! It's been a few years in the making, but is finally complete thanks to the efforts of translator Ryusui. I was given the honor to be one of the beta testers for this fine project, and now it's complete!

Check it out here: http://www.romhacking.net/

If you've never played Breath of Fire II, I suggest you give it a whirl with this re-translation. It still holds up pretty well for a 1994/1995 RPG, and it beats playing the Virtual Console and GBA versions of the game, which retain the terrible SNES translation. Also, the battle music in this game is completely metal.

Bonus video of me drumming to the battle theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOP7ccp7-xE&feature=related

This is interesting.

I'm actually playing Breath of Fire II for the first time on the Virtual Console. I think the shoddy translation is kind of charming.

Finally. This patch took forever because fans wouldn't stop debating what they want in this translation.

God I love this game. I hope people who were driven off by the Engrish get to playing it.

Also, how do I make the patch apply?

There should be instructions in the .rar. Anyway I can't give you the full details, 'cause that'd be sketchy, if you know what I mean.

The only problem I recall with the original BoF2 script is a handful of name changes(Katt sounds better than Rinpoo, imo), and the incomprehensible item names(What the hell IS a Life PL anyway?)

Maybe I'll check it out though. I'd love to take another trip through BoF2's world.

I spent countless hours on this game. One of the best on the SNES.

I'm not sure if I would place BoF2 above BoF3...but I'm gonna check the translation out
