So
Stephen Totilo just put up a blog post where he touched on a few discussions on the Wii that he had with developers during Comic-Con last week, and big surprise, Western developers still have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to the industry leader. Todd Howard of Bethesda compared it to the
Teddy Ruxpin; and Totilo reports when bringing up
The Conduit (which Totilo says has "hardcore things, like bump-mapping"...) developers say they're befuddled at a hardcore aberration on a casual system.
It's incredibly depressing that Westerners still have such an amazingly shallow and ignorant view of the system. "It has no graffix!" "it has no hardcore gamez!" "third-partiez can't compete wit Nintendo!" "Nintendo needs to show third-partiez the way 1st!"
Seriously, games industry. Seriously.
That right there is all the example you need on how little companies understand about it.
Since every Wii post needs one, here's a list of anticipated games:
Muramasa (from Vanillaware)
The Conduit
Mad World
Wii Sports Resort + Motion Plus (ya really)
Red Steel 2 (I believe in a sequel)
Deadly Creatures (Its a wildcard, I have high expectations)
Monster Hunter (I'm really interested in this one for some reason!)
Punchout!
If they don't make money, that will pretty much be that for new, "hardcore" titles on the Wii.
