I used the spinning wheel all the time to get around faster in TP, and there were some places outside the dungeon where you could use it. But I do agree that some weapons get's less love than others. The Zelda co-op idea sounds fun , especially the different outfits , ninja princesses! But I think that they could make a different ip for that. I didn't mind the midi stuff so much in TP, it's nice with some real orchestrated music though, @venusinfurs thanks for pointing out that skyward will have orchestrated music! I absolutely agree with you on the rewards thing, the rupee armor was a piece of junk and it didn't feel super satisfying to get a magic potion from the challenge dungeon because the game wasn't hard enough for you to make use of it. More optional items would be a blessing, assuming that they think of them when designing dungeons so that you could use them to get around easier. Hmm I think the stories are sufficient enough, I mean you get a goal and you need to use your wits and adventure trough the land to complete it, more story could also be a bad thing , but I see what you are getting at, I already consider it to be an epic :) Nice blog , made me think!
I never have beat a Zelda game (never really sang to me) but I've seen enough beaten to know that people adore the series for its timelessness. I think whatever changes the series undergoes should be minor at best and help to enrich the core experience.
I completely agree! I have been wanting a co-op Zelda for a while. (Not talking about four swords or whatever)
It seems that many fans are EXTREMELY afraid of change, perhaps the fans I'm referring to are Zelda fanboys and shoot down any idea because Nintendo hasn't done it yet, or won't do it. I'm not sure if the people I have spoken to are fans or fanboys, but it seems that most of them are afraid of change.
I would love a Zelda game to come out in the future that is good enough to be nominated for GOTY, but I don't think that will happen. Simply because, just like the fans, Nintendo is afraid of change.

@venusinfurs
Whoops, I forgot about that! Well, at least that's one part of my ideal Zelda oming true, lol.
@Kaggen
Thanks, man. :-) Yeah, they could use the co-op stuff in another franchise I guess, but I just think sometimes Zelda can feel a little stale and samey. I just think with some well thought out changes Zelda could be even better, like how they've talked about stream-lining the interface in Skyward Sword and in Ocarina 3D. I'd kill for the return of Pegasus Boots, though - first chance I'd get I'd dump Epona and just sprint over Hyrule.
@PlanetPanton
Agreed. I do think Zelda needs shaking up a lot. I'll still love the Zelda series, but I just think it could do so much more. I mean Mario games vary a lot from game to game, yet Zelda's mechanics and story stays largely the same. And that Zelda poster is awesome.

Twilight Princess's story was empty and pathetic. That game also had some terrible design in regards to the use of the items. I was incredibly disappointed with the last installment of the series.
As for the co-op idea, I could see it working, but it removes a large element of motivation is Zelda is free and fighting next to you. There could be different parters at different stages/sections of the game, fitting into a coheesive narrative. I've never had a problem with written dialogue, and considering how much space those audio files could take, I'd glady choose more content than voices. Freedom to travel the areas in any order is great! There was a lot of this in Ocarina of Time; you could only get so far without certain items, and it worked well.
