Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It is something entirely different.
For reference, play Knights of the Republic if you can.
Have you watched any videos of Mass Effect?
The games couldn't be more different
Sorry, Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox
ah. But if im an Oblivion fan, would i like mass effect also?
It depends. Oblivion is more open ended in that you can just go anywhere anytime and do anything, whereas in MAss Effect it's more about the way you go about it. Mass Effect's story is better though because of this.
I think it would come down to personal preference though. Would you rather play a medieval-fantasy game or an old school sci-fi one?
If Mass Effect is indeed more like KOTOR, then it will propel you through the game because you keep unlocking new quests and talk about new events. In Oblivion, you pretty much knew what to do from the start and had a lot of freedom to do a lot of things.
If you liked Oblivion, you probably won't hate Mass Effect though.
I wouldn't know. Although I want Mass Effect I haven't boughten it yet because I'm saving it for Christmas. I Would just go ahead and get Mass Effect if for no other reason then this: I hate RPG's. The only one I like is Oblivion, and this one has to be really good if it attracted someone as negative toward RPG's as me.
Also, I feel compelled to warn you that there are going to be a bunch of people yelling at you to put this in the forums. Personally I don't care, but I know posts like this that ask questions piss off alot of people here.
Oblivion if you want to kill level 80 wolves with swords.
Mass Effect if you want your f***ing life changed.
14 hrs of Mass Effect so far has eclipsed the 50 I spent in Oblivion with fun, fun, fun.
MASS EFFECT KICKS OBLIVIONS SAGGY BALLS!
Besides, Oblivion is so 2006.
