Is the Sniper really for noobs?
Ninevolt | 5:04 PM on 11.09.2007 13 comments

Its been a worldwide question that i have been pondering and so has many others. Seeing that Destructiod has the gamers who actually know what they're talking about, I came here for answers from the community. Is the sniper rifle in most games (ex. Counter Strike and Halo) really for noobs? Thanks.

I don't think so. A lot of people say that but I believe a lot of games these days are making it very difficult to snipe. For example, I could snipe all day in Halo 2, but in Halo 3, I'm missing almost every shot.

I dont think It's for noobs...i suppose you can call it a cowardly way to play, but it allways comes down to skill. are you good at flanking people, misdirection, etc? if its better than the sniper's aim, he's dead meat once you close the gap...

the sniper is a one trick pony, once someone gets in your face, you'r dead meat.

i dont think its for noobs
sniping takes skill and the people who say that are the ones probably getting their heads blown off because they stay out in the open and dont kno how to use cover
personally i think gears of war made a sniper that involved true skill
the shot itself had a delay so you had to almost predict the guys next move to be able to get a headshot

unless of course like most dumbasses on live they just stand there and dont get cover in time

Depends on the game. Some games sniping is really easy, and others its really difficult and takes some skill

I think the bad thing about the sniper rifle. Is when the person wielding it. Is running around shooting people @ point blank range!

That's why people hate them so much. & the simple fact most people cannot wait and will do anything to get it...

( Just to do the ^^ first statement i just made! )

It takes skill, so it's not for noobs. It's just really goddamn annoying when someone is really fucking good at it.

I only go for head shots when i play, so it's either one hit, or one miss. Look at Kelly Kapowski...mmmmmmmmm....Kelly.......

It depends on the game. In the old Counter-Strike, yes. The AWP was way too powerful. You could hit a guy in the foot with that thing and it would spell instant death.

In Halo 1/2, the sniper was excellent, but they slowed down the firing rate for Halo 3, so if you don't get a headshot, your mark will usually find cover before you can get the second shot in.
