What'd You Get? - Special Wednesday Post-PAX Edition

Being at PAX meant I missed doing What'd You Get? this week, and with PAX being full of things to buy, that's no good. Not with the delicious amounts of swag and the shopping trips to Pink Godzilla and the random encounters with homeless people on the streets of Seattle. No, everyone did get something, whether it was as simple as a hangover or being set on fire to awesome figures or video games.

This week, I ended up getting a few things:

- A copy of the Japanese version of Legend of the Mystical Ninja, once and for all relieving me of Konami's turd-tastic English translation. The game is otherwise the same.

- A Blue Knight Castle Crasher figure, signed by Dan Paladin himself. I planned on buying the whole family + the Barbarian, but it turns out I didn't have enough room in my suitcase to fit them all. Which sucks. :(

- Insane amounts of swag, some of which will be given away to you, the Destructoid community, in future contests! Hope you like Deca Sports wristbands. :p

- An assortment of smaller figures, including Indiana Jones one-coin figures, a Shy Guy keychain and a bunch of Final Fantasy ones. Also, Kapkomi brought a Cammy figure along with him that turned out to be the alternate version of one I have. Of course, that's a good thing because I didn't have it before hand, and I'm obviously thankful for it :)

Mercenaries 2 and Dark City on Blu-ray. Mercenaries is really fun with co-op. I've been playing with yojimbo and we have a blast, although our targets have a habit of getting killed by friendly fire before we can extract them. Haven't had a chance to sit down and watch Dark City though so I'm not sure how the Director's Cut turned out.

While I was sadly not at Pax, I picked up a few things:
For $12 I got yet another SNES (it had two really great condition controllers), Super Mario all-stars,Super Mario world, Super Mario cart and a super gameboy player all for $3 a piece. Also a Master system for $2 (flea markets ftw) and a NES game genie for $.25.

about me

Oh, hi there. Didn�t see you enter. Anyways, welcome to my humble little blog. For those of you not familiar with who I am, the name�s Brian. I�m 23 years old and hail from Lorain, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland. I work at the local newspaper here as a copy editor, putting my four long years of college to actual use. Kind of. I think.

For those of you who might recognize me from elsewhere, I work as Assistant Gaming Editor over at Blogcritics Gaming and as Features Editor over at Tomopop. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it because I get to do a lot of cool shit with a lot of cool people.

I've been gaming since the relatively young age of around 3 and I've played plenty of games, both good and bad. I'm continuously expanding my gaming collection, which has become more of an archive in recent years as I'm focusing on collecting older, less well-known titles. You'd honestly be surprised on what people are missing out on in bargain bins...

Other than gaming, I love anime, manga, sports, movies, TV, and a whole lot more. I also happen to have something of a legendary love for Cammy, to the point that I am the site's unofficial official Cammy fanboy. And yes, I do play as her in Street Fighter and do so quite well, too.
