Square Enix has yet another teaser up (what is it with teasers? I sense a post coming from yours truly on that ... ) for another game to be announced. It started out as just trees, but now there's a dragon and a boy with a sword riding him. Some music plays in the background, and the actual page source has no clues to what it might be for.
To try and determine what the game could be, I did some Matlocking and checked out the libraries for Square, Enix and Taito, just to be sure it wasn't some trick. After sadly realizing it wasn't ActRaiser-related and seeing it had nothing to do with Taito's library, I asserted that it had to come from Square's past, and after a brief study of the page and Square's games from days gone by, I came to the conclusion that this could only be Romancing SaGa 4, and I am 99.99999% certain of that.
What leads me to think it's Romancing SaGa 4 for certain?
- It's the fourth numbered installment in the series, matching up with the four on the page
- The music playing in the background is from past Romancing SaGa games
- Tomomi Kobayashi, former Romancing Saga head artist, has stated in his blog that he is working with Square Enix on something new
- Romancing SaGa has boys with swords and dragons
- It would make sense to resurrect an old franchise
The clock still has about 5 days worth of time to go, meaning the announcement should happen late on July 4 or early on July 5, depending on your location. We also don't know what consoles it will be on or if it will even be *gasp* a digitally downloadable title or a retail title, so those are things to look forward to. But yeah, surprise is ruined, kids. There will always be next time, though.

As long as it's like the actual Romancing SAGA games and not like Unlimited Saga or anything.
I was just playing the PS2 remake of the first RS, and I could go for a new HD Romancing SAGA game(as in, I hope it's for PS3).
UPDATE: Square-Enix trademarked the title Hikari no 4 Senshi(4 Warriors of Light) in the Industrial Property Digital Library. Could be a teaser for that game considering they both have the arabic numeral "4" plastered on them.
Kinda makes me worried though that it's just another remake of the first Final Fantasy(the name being a reference to the group of heroes).
I wouldn't mind a new IP though.
If it is based on an existing francise though, I'd much prefer a SAGA sequel to another Final Fantasy remake.
They should really bring Romancing SaGa 2 over to the US. The systems in the game are just crazy especially at the time for an snes game! Let's hope this installment can match it!
