About Me

Oh, hi there. Didn’t see you enter. Anyways, welcome to my humble little blog. For those of you not familiar with who I am, the name’s Brian. I’m 24 years old and hail from Findlay, Ohio. I work at the local newspaper here as a copy editor, putting my four long years of college to actual use. Kind of. I think.

For those of you who might recognize me from elsewhere, I work as Assistant Gaming Editor over at Blogcritics Gaming and as Features Editor over at Tomopop. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it because I get to do a lot of cool shit with a lot of cool people.

I've been gaming since the relatively young age of around 3 and I've played plenty of games, both good and bad. I'm continuously expanding my gaming collection, which has become more of an archive in recent years as I'm focusing on collecting older, less well-known titles. You'd honestly be surprised on what people are missing out on in bargain bins...

Other than gaming, I love anime, manga, sports, movies, TV, and a whole lot more. I also happen to have something of a legendary love for Cammy, to the point that I am the site's unofficial official Cammy fanboy. And yes, I do play as her in Street Fighter and do so quite well, too.

Also, I am Chad Concelmo's B.F.F., my prize for coming in first in The Great Retro Quiz .18 - ActRaiser. Accept no substitutes. Not even Aerox.

Purported MS E3 leaks = a desperate company. Also, Forza 3 = <3

Remember how people said Microsoft's E3 presentation might seem... desperate? Well, if these leaks from NeoGAF are true... then they are really, really, really desperate.

So where to begin? Avatars.

Yes, on top of creating a motion-sensing controller, Microsoft has gone the extra mile to copy Nintendo and create a Mii clone. To be fair, Sony has Home, but the more I've seen Home and read about it, the less I think it was created solely as a counter to the Wii and more to counter the likes of Second Life and other online MMO titles.

Activision is also apparently trying to take on Nintendo, as their new Tony Hawk game is going to feature a balance board. Probably not a surprise, really. But it's coming to the 360 and PS3, where it will likely be laughed at as a gimmick.

There's one thing I definitely want to be true, though, and that is:

Now, I knew this was coming. But after reading all about the new Forza, or what's purportedly going to be in it, I came. Apparently it will be so big it will need 2 discs, which makes me a sad panda. But, those discs will be crammed with 400+ cars, 100+ tracks, new racing modes that sound like the same ones from Need for Speed: ProStreet (oddly enough), crazy levels of customization and nearly realistic damage. Wow.

Also, this just in: in an apparent attempt to one-up Nintendo, Microsoft is announcing at E3 that they have purchased the rights to distribute the Vii in North America. MS claims that this "Wii killer" will be priced at $149 and is twice as powerful as Nintendo's own console. More on this as it develops...

lolwut?

All this news sounds like a strange April Fool's Joke, save for the Forza news.

The avatar thing seems legit due to other info reported not here. Forza 2 sounds epic, and you forgot "Lips" which is reportedly Microsoft's answer to SingStar.

and lol @ Vii

I think this is real, and a precursor to XBLive+Home or other 3-D World community. But, I'm still wait & see if/when it happens.

Bleh. Miis are barely interesting as it is. Microsoft does not need this. GODDAMMIT, STOP TRYING TO IMITATE NINTENDO. JUST BE YOURSELVES. There's a reason that I prefer Microsoft over Nintendo. If they blur the lines too much, I'll just jump ship.

WTF is Summa doing in your Avatar Ron? Also, while the Avatars do look pretty lame, I don't see how Microsoft is desperate. I still think the 360 has the best games, and thats all that matters.

So what happens to all those (weak-souled) people that have purchased gamerpics and stuff? Wouldn't "avatars" make them useless?

They're distributing the Vii in North America? That is hard to believe.

P.S. why does everybody hate multiple discs so much? Some of my favorite games from the PS1 era were on multiple discs. It's not that much of a hassle.
