Oh, hi there. Didn’t see you enter. Anyways, welcome to my humble little blog. For those of you not familiar with who I am, the name’s Brian. I’m 24 years old and hail from Findlay, Ohio. I work at the local newspaper here as a copy editor, putting my four long years of college to actual use. Kind of. I think.
For those of you who might recognize me from elsewhere, I work as Assistant Gaming Editor over at Blogcritics Gaming and as Features Editor over at Tomopop. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it because I get to do a lot of cool shit with a lot of cool people.
I've been gaming since the relatively young age of around 3 and I've played plenty of games, both good and bad. I'm continuously expanding my gaming collection, which has become more of an archive in recent years as I'm focusing on collecting older, less well-known titles. You'd honestly be surprised on what people are missing out on in bargain bins...
Other than gaming, I love anime, manga, sports, movies, TV, and a whole lot more. I also happen to have something of a legendary love for Cammy, to the point that I am the site's unofficial official Cammy fanboy. And yes, I do play as her in Street Fighter and do so quite well, too.

The newest NPD numbers were released today, covering sales in April 2008. There were a few surprises, but none of them really related to GTA IV. So put on your analyst caps and pretend like you get paid to crunch numbers, because here we go.
Here's a look at the top 10 selling games for April: 1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360) - 1,850,000 2. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 1,120,000 3. Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3) - 1,000,000 4. Wii Play (Wii) - 360,000 5. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - 326,000 6. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (PS3) - 224,000 7. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (DS) - 202,000 8. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time (DS) - 202,000 9. Guitar Hero III (Wii) - 152,000 10. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Xbox 360) - 141,000 GTA IV, as expected did tremendously well, as did Mario Kart Wii. Unfortunately, it seemed that Microsoft and Sony's hopes of GTA IV pushing consoles out the front door at launch didn't surface. The console numbers: Wii - 714,200 Nintendo DS - 414,800 PSP - 192,000 Xbox 360 - 188,000 PlayStation 3 - 187,100 PlayStation 2 - 124,400 Now, the order the consoles finished in is pretty normal, but the key difference is in the numbers. Nintendo sold over 700,000 units on the Wii alone, and 1.1 million combined in April. In the U.S. ALONE. And there's more of note. The only Guitar Hero III version in the top 10 is the Wii version. Wii Play still sells insanely well almost 18 months after it was released. And those GTA IV numbers are, of course, only 5 days. May's numbers may show an increase in consoles sold, but at least at launch, the people buying GTA IV were current console owners, not new ones. But there is a 10-ton juggernaut on the horizon: Wii Fit. Next week. And the executives at Sony and Microsoft cannot be happy about looking forward to that. Any surprises for you guys?

Judging from the sales at launch and the numbers of consoles sold in April... my gut feeling is no. Or at least not by an appreciable number.
and that's two months in a row he's picked Sony over Microsoft and been wrong.
He also overestimated HD console sales:
"On the hardware front, Pachter has forecast 600,000 units sold for Wii, 275,000 for Xbox 360 and 290,000 for PS3."
