About Me

Oh, hi there. Didn’t see you enter. Anyways, welcome to my humble little blog. For those of you not familiar with who I am, the name’s Brian. I’m 24 years old and hail from Findlay, Ohio. I work at the local newspaper here as a copy editor, putting my four long years of college to actual use. Kind of. I think.

For those of you who might recognize me from elsewhere, I work as Assistant Gaming Editor over at Blogcritics Gaming and as Features Editor over at Tomopop. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it because I get to do a lot of cool shit with a lot of cool people.

I've been gaming since the relatively young age of around 3 and I've played plenty of games, both good and bad. I'm continuously expanding my gaming collection, which has become more of an archive in recent years as I'm focusing on collecting older, less well-known titles. You'd honestly be surprised on what people are missing out on in bargain bins...

Other than gaming, I love anime, manga, sports, movies, TV, and a whole lot more. I also happen to have something of a legendary love for Cammy, to the point that I am the site's unofficial official Cammy fanboy. And yes, I do play as her in Street Fighter and do so quite well, too.

Also, I am Chad Concelmo's B.F.F., my prize for coming in first in The Great Retro Quiz .18 - ActRaiser. Accept no substitutes. Not even Aerox.

More details unearthed about PS3's inFamous
Brian Szabelski | 10:08 PM on 06.10.2008 7 comments

The first time I heard about inFamous, I was intrigued. I get to be a superhuman being and run around, deciding whether I'm good or evil? Sweet. It got me interested in buying the game, even though then I did not have a PS3. When I said I might even buy a PS3 to play inFamous, people looked at me like I was a Japanese bukkake tentacle rape monster. Look it up, kids. They exist.

Anyways, since that E3 announcement, things have been rather quiet about the game. Until Game Informer went and talked to Sucker Punch all about this PS3-exclusive title. All I know now is that I want this game even more because it sounds really cool.

Your basic story: You are a guy named Dylan who possesses super powers, namely you can shoot electricity from your fingers a la Emperor Palpatine. Apparently, the game begins with a giant explosion, a plague, government quarantine, and the rise of street gangs. Okay, sounds good. What else?

According to Game Informer, the core of the game looks to revolve around whether players will choose to use his powers for good ... or EEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL. No guns, though, because his powers would just make bullets explode in the chamber of the gun. Not that I'd miss an action game that doesn't have guns in it.

The game's location, Empire City, is indeed an open world, but scripted events will apparently take the place of icons and markers. So no more need to run to the little icon to start the missions, apparently. They'll start and you just have to do whatever it takes to get there to beat them. The example they gave is where Dylan must disarm a bomb, but is faced with the decision of being a good guy or wasting precious time when he encounters an injured civilian en route.

Speaking of NPCs, the way you treat them determines your perception. Take down enemies with lethal force and hurt people? You're a bad guy. Do the opposite? You're a good guy. Pretty simple, huh?

All in all, sounds like this could be a good game, and since it's from Sucker Punch, I expect good things. It won't be Prototype (then again, what will?), but it sounds like it could provide plenty of good gaming time all on its own.

Anything by the Sony Trinity (Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch) will be good. Always.

OKAY, SO THE ELECTRICITY THAT EMPEROR PALPATINE SHOOTS FROM HIS FINGERS ISN'T NORMAL LIGHTNING IT'S CALLED FORCE LIGHTNING AND IT COMES FROM THE FORCE WHICH IS UNLIKE THE KIND OF ELECTRICITY THAT WE'RE DEALING WITH HERE. GOSH GET IT RIGHT.
