About Me

Oh, hi there. Didn’t see you enter. Anyways, welcome to my humble little blog. For those of you not familiar with who I am, the name’s Brian. I’m 24 years old and hail from Findlay, Ohio. I work at the local newspaper here as a copy editor, putting my four long years of college to actual use. Kind of. I think.

For those of you who might recognize me from elsewhere, I work as Assistant Gaming Editor over at Blogcritics Gaming and as Features Editor over at Tomopop. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it because I get to do a lot of cool shit with a lot of cool people.

I've been gaming since the relatively young age of around 3 and I've played plenty of games, both good and bad. I'm continuously expanding my gaming collection, which has become more of an archive in recent years as I'm focusing on collecting older, less well-known titles. You'd honestly be surprised on what people are missing out on in bargain bins...

Other than gaming, I love anime, manga, sports, movies, TV, and a whole lot more. I also happen to have something of a legendary love for Cammy, to the point that I am the site's unofficial official Cammy fanboy. And yes, I do play as her in Street Fighter and do so quite well, too.

Also, I am Chad Concelmo's B.F.F., my prize for coming in first in The Great Retro Quiz .18 - ActRaiser. Accept no substitutes. Not even Aerox.

Klonoa finally comes to the Wii!
Brian Szabelski | 12:41 PM on 10.01.2008 10 comments

Ah, poor Klonoa and his games. The entire series never gets the love it really deserves. I've played bits and pieces of several games and generally liked all of them, but I have yet to actually buy one of them because ... well, I forget. It's also been a while since there's been a console Klonoa release, so the series has kind of slipped out of my mind while I focus on all the new fun games out there.

This morning, I got a little surprise on my RSS feeds, when 1Up posted a story stating that Namco was coming out with a new Klonoa title for the Wii. Or rather, I should say, it's a remake of an older Klonoa title that's being polished up and brought to the Wii. Specifically, it's this game:

1997's Klonoa: Door to Phantomile is the first game in the series, and according to the article on 1Up, the game is getting polished up for the Wii. Given how well Wario Land: Shake It! has been received, and the fact that the Wii is starting to prove itself a fertile ground for platforming/action/adventure titles, I'm really looking forward to playing an updated version of Door to Phantomile. It's the kind of game that, with the graphical polish I assume Namco will bring it, will be fantastic to look at and fantastic to play.

How about you, Dtoid community? Have you played this game?

I rented the first one and I remember really liking it, but I'm looking at these videos and it's not giving me flashbacks. Wish I'd burned a copy.

Come ooooon XBLA release.

TPJ: A XBLA or PSN Klonoa title is a possibility. Namco likes to spread the love when it comes to digital downloads.

I played the PS2 2.5 d Klonoa. It was enjoyable, and it only uses 2 buttons so I can see how it'd be a great fit for the sideways Wiimote.

One thing though... I haven't read a stellar review for Wario yet. Everything's been pretty tepid, but I haven't seen any sales figures either. Is it really selling that well?
