Normally, I don't care about the Spike Video Game Awards. Haven't cared about them since their inception. Thought they were rubbish and poorly done. But after taking a look at the impressions this year... it doesn't seem to suck. And that might just be enough for me to finally tune in to see what the fuss is about. For reals.
Overall, I don't think this year's list of award winners is too bad. I mean, Bioshock is not my Game of the Year by any stretch of the imagination, nor is it the best game on the 360 in my humble opinion, but the remainder of the list is filled out with games that are perhaps debatable as winners, but none the less great. For example, DiRT was not as good as Forza 2 to me, but it was still a great game, so seeing it walk away with Best Driving Game is not a disappointment to me. Some of the categories seem stupid (and I'm looking at you, Most Addictive Game fueled by Dew, which was suspiciously won by Halo 3... coincidence?), but what can I say... not all gamers are rocket scientists and won't mind these dumb categories. The rest of the list, though, I'm perfectly fine with, which could not be said in years past.
In the end, from what I've gathered on Nick's notes, it seems like the VGAs took a gigantic step in the right direction this year. Part of that is likely because they're including more industry people in things like the voting, but keep it up, Spike. You guys just might be on to something if you can keep improving.
Oh, and I'll also watch to support Collete being on the pre-show and the chance that I might see Mr. Destructoid on-screen at some point.

Epic! I might just watch it
I will say it's a step in the right direction. Especially in the past years having it so "urban focused" (like having 50 cent bulletproof win a award? Who the hell played that?)
But for me, it was way too many 360 games winning awards. Sure they were great games that I can't deny, but it seemed pretty much all 360 games won an award. But it's better than past years so it doesn't bother me more than it would.
So I'll actually see Ron and them? When the fuck is it? Tommorow night? Maybe I'll watch it then.
Oh, and Shin Oni: I played the 50 Cent game at one of my Wigger friend's. It was fucking terrible. But it's so stereotypical that you'll at least lol a few times.
Meh I'll tune in, I've spent my time worse watching stupid shit on the internet.

I just hope persona 3 wins best RPG. But it won't because of all the Mass effect hype. Mass Effect is getting a lot of mixed reviews and is qouted as "The greatest story of our time" by Geoff Keighly (All Games Radio inside joke).
I'm sure they'll cut the important parts with the destructoid people into a video and put it up on youtube so you don't have to watch something made by people people who don't know sh*t about games.
Im pretty sure ill be torrenting the show to check out some of the highlights.
I'll just watch for the RBV2 and Badlands stuff.
