I believe I owe some of you here in the c-blogs an apology.
Last year, there was an event held in our dear
Forums. A manly event. An event with balls. Hairy, manly balls. I'm talking about
SeptemBEARD and it feels like it was only last week that I experienced the trauma of shaving my entire face after literally years of not doing so. It made me reluctant to go through that again.
But sirs, if you are willing to take the plunge into excessive skin exposure - then so will I, once more.
This is an event within the month of September in which on the first day, a man will shave his face in its entirety and then refrain from shaving until the first day of the following month. Giving his beard a full 31 days to flourish. Many who participate in this event will do so in a group of people and compare their beards on the 31st of the month and determine who is the Septembeard Champion. *Note* - Girlfriends, Wives, Fiances & Mothers, more often than not, are against the Septembeard festivities and will often complain.
I've already started
a new thread and you can feel free to participate there. I think a special approach is deserved here, though, but since things like this aren't exactly commonplace in the c-blogs, I could use a bit of advice or suggestions as how to host/present this deal.
Also, to one-up last year, I'd like to take this a step further. Apparently there is a
Septembeard "organization" that is starting a donation drive for prostate cancer, and I thought it would be cool to sign up for sponsorship there. However, closer inspection of the website made me leery of it since there isn't a whole lot to it. At least not enough to make me feel comfortable giving them my credit card info.
So I'm wondering - if enough of us are participating and with the blessing of Niero & Co - whether it could be a Dtoid-specific donation event. It may be a bit late in the schedule for such a thing, and I don't have two clues on how to get the ball rolling besides asking for support, kinda like now. Either way, I look forward to this being a thing happening.
So there you have it. Get ready for the spectacle, people.
Septembeard may or may not be related, but you should be able to easily check where the funds go (and if not, maybe check out movember.com - there probably is such a site, but I didn't check, I only know about movember.ca from a friend!)
Awesome idea!!
Oh... and if there is just a Dtoid thing... is there any chance at all that the ladies can grow their leg hair and not shave it for all of November... I'd love to have an excuse not to shave my legs... and for charity yet! :)
If anything, I would send the donations straight to the research lab, but I don't know how to set something like that up (pooling the donation money together). Niero and others however have done this kind of thing on plenty occasions, though.
And as for ladies who wanna participate... I'd have no problem with it personally. Hell, I'd encourage photographed progress along with the males. It may not be pretty, but pretty isn't what this shit is about!
@kidplus: Everyone is welcome to participate, dude. Whether your hair-growing abilities are outstanding or not is inconsequential. It's just something to do in the spirit of it.
If I leave it long enough I start to develop what I call the “Homeless Zorro” look, nevertheless, I’m interested and might be willing to take that bullet if everyone else joins in.
