The Xgaming Tank controller is massive and an object of lust
Niero | 11:57 AM on 06.05.2007 20 comments

Wanted to post this behind the scenes since I don't have a review for it ready yet.

Just look at this thing. Look at this fucking thing!

I just received a demo unit from the guys over at http://www.Xgaming.com which I'll be using over the next couple of days before drawing conclusions. I'm pretty excited about it right now like a schoolgirl and can't think straight.

This could be the world's most perfect at-home Street Fighter 2 controller ever made. I might have babies with it.

@Snaileb
You can pick up adapters for PS2, Xbox, DC, etc...

I've been meaning to pick up one of these bad boys for years, but I'm too much of a dumbass.

I've wanted one of those for a while, just never worked up the $200 needed. I'd likely end up going with two individual arcade pads for $100 each instead, since I'd want the freedom to sit where I want. Let us know if quarters are too tight for two people!

@ tazarthayoot: It works with pretty much everything but 360 and PS3; PS3 because it's still a new system, 360 because MS made proprietary lockouts and it's taking a while to circumvent the system.

I've been thinking about getting the smaller version of that for use with Metal Slug.

XBOX™, Playstation 1 or 2™, Wii™ Gamecube™, Dreamcast™ or Mac™. (adapters on the way for next gen!)
Lol, Wii isn't next gen :P.

Damn you Niero!! I didn't knew this existed, so now instead of "gaming out" my room to be cool like virtualgirl's i think I'll spend my money one of those.

Its for PC. It comes with two separate USB cords, one which operates the trackball. The cords are a bit of a mess but, then again, THERE'S A GIANT THREE FOOT CONTROLLER ON MY TABLE

I got the older 2-player model. Mine was refurbished (thus only $100), and the 1P joystick is kinda weird sometimes in emulators/games on my computers (Linux, Windows and my Mac, but strangely no problems on my GC with Ikaruga). The joystick may not actually be broken if it works fine on GC but not on computers. I desperately want the harder to find USB adapter for the 2-player panel, this lame converter I have for PS/2->USB just doesn't cut it when using with my Mac (the Ctrl/Alt/Shift default key assignments don't quite work, among other issues). I don't know if I'll ever get the Tankstick, seeing that the 2-player model has all the features I need. But I still suggest this thing to anyone looking for a relatively fairly priced arcade panel for use with computers and other platforms.

If any of you have any idea of where the hell I could buy the USB adapter (it hasn't been available on the X-Gaming website for months) I'd like to know, since PS/2 doesn't fit very well into a MacBook Pro USB plug. I have SDLMAME binaries I compiled myself and some games to play, yet I can't even use my X-Arcade to play the games at their best.
