For some reason half the supporting images on the site didn't load in the x64 version of Internet Explorer so I took the opportunity to make a few improvements/experiments while I was correcting this issue on the story view page.
Here's whats new:
- Community tags are slightly different now to support Narps, community-organized contests, and industry events. Did I miss anything you'd like on that list?
- Tag names now appear next to the author name, so it will say "Brad Rice" on Guilty Gear, etc. I think it does a better job of introducing the story without adding clutter and the link is actually interesting now that we have the quick view tag pages
- Galleries no longer show the epic gigantor block of images. Instead, it simply shows the last 6 and says "X many photos in the gallery and they appear above the editorial in a thin strip. We can make it more interactive later
- I cleaned up how llatest comments look and it also now supports longer comment previews followed by a post divider. It also looks cleaner when you're viewing the full story
- I updated the bottom of the page with article previews instead of just headline previews and mug shots so you don't have to click into them to see what they were all about
- the back buttons now display the digest view instead (I'm iffy on this one. I think I like it because it lets me catch up with the news faster if I missed a few hours, but I'm not sure everyone will. What do you think?)
Obviously we waste a lot of space near the gutters after the sixth post which is something I'm trying to engineer against. We can have a much cooler multi-tabbed footer with a little work and some Ajax. Its a work in progress, too!
Any requests for the next round of site improvements? Put me to work!
Any word on the possible return of those weird little blurbs that popped up under your name when you refreshed? I thought they added a lot of humor and character to the site without taking up much real estate.
THAT MAN IS DRINKING HIS OWN URINE?!
I also vote for blurb return.
Also since the contest started I have had some problems with the frontpage. Clicking on the page, not on a link, would also direct me to the contest, which is a bit annoying.
I have the same problem. I found that navigating away from Dtoid then returning fixed it for a while. But not permanently.

I'm also digging the gallery strip.
Question/request:
Is it possible to get uploaded pictures to display with a 550-pixel width again? That size filled the blog column perfectly, while the current 468 size seems a bit small.
<3<3<3 Dtoid!
OK, I'm done whoring.
Straight up, Niero rocks.
I CANNOT add anyone/a friend to my friend's list.
I'm using...
Safari 3.1.2 w/ Mac OSX 10.4.11
Thanks for ALL the other Safari improvments otherwise.
Suggestion: Could you make it so that we can upload more photos into the cblogs at one time? Or at the very least fix it so that I don't have to scroll past images already uploaded after you upload every photo?
Other than that, looking snazzy sir!
One suggestion would be to have a category "Multi-format", that way when you're posting something about Rock Band or CoD you don't have to list it under XBox 360 or PS3.
