Top 10 things you didn't know about me: (1) I'm a volunteer English teacher on weekends, (2) my first real job was drawing comics for a major newspaper, (3) my favorite console is the Super Nintendo (because I'm almost 40), (4) I can speak "survival" Japanese and write business-level Spanish, (5) I was captain of my high school's cross-country running team for two years and a wrestler for one, (6) I don't live in the United States most of the time, (7) I cannot stand people who think I run Destructoid because I have more of an interest in journalism than entertainment (8) I have published more independent gamer opinions on this site than most people in this industry have in their careers (~350 on the home page and 300,000 on the cblogs) (9) I like mayonaise on fried egg and tomato sandwiches (10) I'm more interested in video games media (legacy web communities in particular) than I am in the average videogame, probably because my dream job as a child was to work at Nintendo Power and answer phones as a game counselor. Pretty nerdy, right?
My life story is this: I wanted to go to E3, so I made Destructoid. That is the honest to God truth and why you know this web site. Just one guy's hack to get there.
You can learn about the history of Destructoid on Wikipedia, there's a pretty nice article about some of the things we've done in both editorial and charity work.
