About Me
I'm Nex.

I used to work here but my love of cash led me to take a gig with Wired.

I still keep an eye on the 'toid, but to see what I'm really up to, you should either hit up my Vox or go have a look at the Wired media empire.

Obviously everyone has their own idea of who in this industry is respectable, but I'd like to get the general consensus from you guys on which companies/magazine/sites/etc. you find readable, useful, and overall, not douches.

Personally, I'm voting for PCGamer, Gamasutra, Next-Gen/EDGE, Game Politics, Siliconera and 4CR, but what do you guys think? Who do you read?

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

i kinda like IGN, even if their news updates are slow, but other than that i don't really check many other sites.

Is this to gain wikipedia notability?

If I were to pick up a magazine it would be either PCGamer or one of the branded WIIZOMG type reads.

Eurogamer. They write well, and they seem to have some sort of integrity.

ArsTechnica. Probably my favorite. But, I read it mainly for science and computing news. Kuchera and Frank are pretty good writers about gaming, but they don't update that often.

I don't read magazines anymore, whatsoever.

I used to read PC Gamer, but their glory days of the inch-thick monthly publication are long gone. I really haven't bothered to pick it up ever since it became a 50 page, 30 ad, one bathroom visit 'zine.

Oddly enough, I've been having more respect for Nintendo Power lately. Yeah it's the fanzine published by the company itself, but they seem to be much more willing nowadays to call a crap game a crap game.

Wired, Ars Technica, Destructoid (but only posts from BrainDerailment, cheezburga, and electrolemon), Jet, Knitting Quarterly, Cat Fancy, and Next-gen (I read the hard copy back issues for all my gaming news. Otherwise how would I stay so current on all my Dreamcast, Ultra 64, and Playstation 2 launch news?)

Destructoid and 1UP. I don't read IGN since they got bought out and play non-stop adds for shit like Pain-Killer Jane or 24 all over the sidebars. 1UP has that, but lately it hasn't been as bad. Plus, IGN seems more like the place where the uneducated and those who don't know any better go to get their news. The only reason I go to 1UP is because they have game reviews the day (or before sometimes) it's released. And they drink the same Sony Hater-aide that I do ^^.

Primarily DToid, then usually 1up, Gamespot, and IGN for the media/features. I'll also stop by Kotaku, Shacknews, Blue's News, and Evil Avatar every now and then. I'm subscribed to EGM and Game Informer.

Since most gaming magazines are mostly ads now its hard to get into them like back in the day. I mostly on Destructoid, Kotaku, 1up.

Destructoid is my primary and that's because it's the only site that has the balls to tell it like it is. Sometimes shit goes down and needs to be in the face of the public and for that I give big ups to Dtoid. Plus the staff being completely accessible and the open arms of the community makes this THE place to go for gaming information hands down. I used to visit Joystiq, Gamespot and IGN but for now my secondary has pretty much been Kotaku with IGN close behind.

I guess I'm pretty late on this one. I read Dtoid, Kotaku (b/c Crecente has a pair), EvilAvatar, GamePolitics, RacketBoy, and 4cr. As far as podcasts go, I've listened to the CAGcast pretty much since inception--CheapyD is possibly the baddest dude alive, he could save the President and then eat cheeseburgers--and the Podtoid. I used to listen to 1up Yours, but I haven't since Luke left 1up--he and Shane bickering with each other was the best part.
