Possible Spoilers? No babies crying plz.
And so it was that the 5 founding members of the Eritics guild retired and in their stead stood apprentices infused with the knowledge and skill that only battle-worn veterans of The Labyrinth could've provided them with. They trained for months to catch up with and eventually surpass their predecessors. Finally ready, the new Eritics members thrust themselves into the geomagnetic field.
Lead by a Ronin known as "Great Chaos" they navigated the swirling sands that awaited them with ease as Ronni, the party's Survivalist, clutched a worn map in her hand. No Flamerat, Pixie, or mighty FOE was able to withstand the party's combination of tactics and raw power. The five spirits burned with so much intensity that they were not about to be stopped by some forest of dry wood.
After a time they came to a set of stairs that led to the one floor unconquered by their elders. Rumors spread throughout Etria that it was long-sought after bottom of The Labyrinth. The Eritics themselves were unsure of this but they knew two things for certain; this was where the Forest People were making their last stand and they would not go down easily.
"How many of these feathered freaks are there?" quipped Faustus before washing their opponents in a wave of fire. A response came from the Medic, Eris, "I don't think it's really fair what we're doing here. These people are only defending their home." It seemed like they had been fighting for an eternity, the carnage broken only by long trips to the magical spring several floors above. "This is our mission." said Great Chaos, "It is the wish of not only Radha Hall but also our masters. We must not falter." With that he cut down the last member of the current enemy group. "We'd better head back to the spring. I feel a powerful enemy ahead."
He was right of course, he usually was. The beast they now faced was immense; a giant golden bird whose every feather seemed to radiate energy. The fight was long, steel flashed in the night, arrows rained from the darkened heavens, and eventually the party emerged victorious. They staggered into another clearing and found the most bittersweet of discoveries; a hole leading deeper into the dungeon.
The Eritics returned to town to sell the materials they had amassed and prepare for their next excursion. That night they were congratulated and celebrated as heroes, though the eradication of the Forest People weighed heavy on their minds. Those thoughts were quickly dismissed in favor of sleep, the five explorers too tired to even dream.
What awaited them down the hole was beyond imagination; an enclosed landscape that seemed like a gigantic house covered in all sorts of flora. The party wandered about completely overtaken by the scenery until they found a large tree branch connecting two of these buildings. Venturing on to the branch the current members of Eritics found themselves surrounded by more of these buildings interspersed with trees just as large. Before too long their gaze fell upon two familiar faces blocking further passage...
tl;dr?
I'm not one to write stories, I have no idea where this came from, I guess the spirit just hit me? Anyway, the most memorable part of the game was when I had finally rebuilt my team to fight the 15 or so FOEs on floor 20 and for the longest time I thought that it was the last floor (wishful thinking?). Eventually I wrecked the boss and moved on to the next stratum. It really was a sight for a DS game and the music just made it better. I wasn't having much of a problem with the monsters or the fight with [NAMES OMITTED] so I thought I had actually gotten ahead of the difficulty curve and was feeling pretty sure of myself. 2 floors later I got massacred by like 3 blazers at once. The game keeps wiping the floor with me and I keep coming back because I want to beat it that much more. Can't wait for the next one.
