Never wrote a blog here before, but
why not? I already whine enough in my other online journal honestly. But I don't talk about gaming much in there anyway, and if I do, nobody gives a shit. So I'll do it here, so nobody can care here either. <3
I'll post a little gaming history of myself. For lack of anything better to say D: (And this will be long and include some shops. Cause I'm pretty bored and
you're the victim, now.)
It started when I was little, my older brother had the Sega Genesis and Nintendo (Which was stashed away in the closet). I had also gotten a Super Nintendo when it came out, which lovingly came with Super Mario World. (Or they bought it, but i know I had it.) My first games were Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World (as far as i remember).
I remember when Yoshi's Cookie came out and I thought it looked SO AWESOME from the commercials! We went to Blockbuster to rent it. We always rented games, my parents never usually bought them, I have very few games in my Super Nintendo arsenal. And I wasn't game-savvy enough at the time to beat the damn things in
three days. But I digress... (although they bought me all the Disney ones i think :/)
We went to get Yoshi's Cookie, and I remember looking at the cartridge and thinking 'That's regular Nintendo..' and telling my mom it was. My mom asked the teller if this would work in the Super Nintendo and the teller said Yes. But I
knew otherwise when we came home it would not fit in the Super Nintendo.
Seriously. How do you fuck it up?
Nontheless, while my mom argued with the people on the phone, I grabbed the Nintendo and set it up myself on my ancient TV they had in my room. We had satellite TV but I didn't have a remote in my room, but a strange wired.. remote thing that had limited channels for me to PRESS down. (See, people, my parents found out how to hide naughty channels from me. Why the
fuck can't parents do this shit now when it's even easier than before in the damn blocking options? AUGH.) Anyway, I set it up myself and played it. And joy ensued. Oddly enough thats the only Nintendo game i remember playing, I have no idea if we had any others, since the system was sold for like $10 at a garage sale when we moved years later. :/
I played
many games on the Super Nintendo though. I remember playing a rented Mickey adventure game before leaving for Orlando, Florida and leaving the game in the kitchen before we left... and it was still in the kitchen when we got back. LOL late fees. I grabbed the game and continued playing it. :p
My favorite game was Mario Paint, probably. and Super Mario Kart!! Good times, good times. but Mario Paint was fucking awesome. I played that thing for glorious hours and hours of fun~ I really hope they even make a new one for the DS or consider something like it. (Yeahh theres various games that do different parts like it but... I wants my Mario Paint <3)
The first game I ever beat within the "Blockbuster rental time" was Bonkers. I used the three or four (lame) tips printed in Nintendo Power (which i was subscribed to for about 3 years) and beat the whole thing. I was so proud of myself I think I peed a little.
A game I
mastered was
Aladdin, though. I think I can
still beat Aladdin within an hour and I know where all the Teal Gems are in the Bonus carpet level!!
But Lion King
kicked my ass!! I could never get passed the damn lava level with the moving steps and shit.. and when the FUCK did Simba go through lava and kill bats anyway!? D:
GAWD.
I honestly never beat the game until I found out the cheat code to choose levels and just kicked Scar's ass and got to see the ending. Awesome times.
I mainly played the SNES obviously, but I still enjoyed playing Sega Genesis too.. although we had no games except the first Sonic game.. which I still have. :) And then when I was going out with someone, he let me borrow his Sonic games to play, which was almost all of them.. and then we broke up and he never asked for them back. LOL my games now, crazy bitch. <3
My love of gaming continued when the Sony Playstation came out. The first game I had for it was Suikoden II. My family got it for me cause "it sounded japanese". (Obviously around the start of my anime days.) I loved the game so much, and I didn't get the "good ending" either so I cried when it ended. :( I restarted the game to get all the stars, but I messed up in the beginning and didn't notice til about halfway through and didn't wanna go through the whole thing a third time so I gave up.
But so began my love of RPGs, and I bought and borrowed games like FFVII, which my then-boyfriend was jealous that I was gonna beat it before him. Was thrilled to have gotten Knights of the Round as well, which helped me beat Sephiroth in some way I have no idea how. (Seriously, I tried beating the fucker so many times, and I did something and he started dying/crumbling and I was like WTF is going on?! but hell I went with it.)
I also played games like Vandal Hearts, and I found a little game called Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure when I was in a game store in Chinatown. I was in love with the pretty lady with wings on the front; and it really was an adorable game, although really short.
One of my longest affairs was with Lunar:Silver Star Story Complete. I got it cause a friend had suggested it to me. I fell in love with the game and story, and all of the characters. <3 It was so incredible, and although I didn't like the sequal as much, I still enjoyed it.
(And DON'T get me started on Dragon Crapsong) The packaging of the games made them worth just buying! I still have them all neatly packed with their goodies.
anyway, i mainly played RPGs through my Playstation days. Not as much as I would've liked though. Didn't really get games as presents although I longed for them. I was a
huge Sony fangirl! I remember when my boyfriend got the PS2 for christmas, and not the Xbox like he had expected. I felt devastated and was horribly jealous D: But once I got mine, i continued with RPGs, and also fell in love with Guilty Gear. To this day, Guilty Gear is still the only fighting game I really enjoy.
But with my (then - and now) boyfriend he introduced me to PC games. I'd sit and watch him play Age of Empires after school, which he played with more than me back then. (Now it's DOTA and Guild Wars =p) But I found it really cool, and got to join him in the same genre when I got Age of Mythology for my birthday and loved it!! He got the game to play with me, and I sucked pretty bad. Actually I still suck really bad at RTS games *lack of micro, hurr* but I learned the rush method with Norse, and it kicked ass! but playing with others didn't really start until I found MMOs.
Pretty sure my first was Ragnarok Online. An online friend of mine showed me it and let me play on a second account when it was still in Alpha stage in the US. I remember hordes of people sitting in Morroc and chatting in chatrooms. And Tsurugi was THE sword to have! Those were the days <3
I still played it through beta, official release, and still hop on a private server when my friends feel like dragging me into one. I win at priest class.
Other MMOs I've played are Saga of Ryzom (beta), World of Warcraft (currently unsubscribed, that money eating ho!), Guild Wars (Factions), RF Online, Trickster, Perfect World, Flyff, Ragnarok Online, and a bunch of others I probably just don't remember their names.
but I've also played games like Magestorm, Paintball, Gunbound, Warcraft III, Frozen Throne, DOTA + other WC3 maps, most recently tried Manga Fighter, which is amusing.
And through it all I've played with the same computer, with minor upgrades in the past.. gosh. six years? :/
Yeah, you can expect my Gaming Rig blog within a few days.
I'm hoping to get a hand-me-down comp within the next few months, once that person gets their new one up and running. I can't wait to use it for upcoming games like Aion <3
I've also got a LOT of love for my Nintendo DS. everything from Chocobo Tales to Nintendogs and Phoenix Wright are fucking awesome. I love this system and every game I play on it.
(But DONT get me start on Dragon Crapasong <.<)
anyway i'm tired of thinking of games I've played, and of rambling on in general.
I can already think of more blogs that have more of a point to them, that should happen in the near future. or not. whatever. <3

Also, you were on the Saga of Ryzom beta? I don't know if you remember me but I was Sanz on Ryzom. I ran the guild Storm Dancers and only left when they forced PvP on us. I miss old Ryzom. =(

At any rate, I always get a little worried when I'm scrolling down a giant image of Sonic, for fear that I'm not going to want to see what's happening when it gets below waist level. Thank you for saving me from that fate.
You mastered Aladdin? I rented that, I think I might have beat it... I do remember being impressed by the music and graphics, although there were a couple of levels with very, very repetitive songs.

Stop making me want to play RO and Lion King on the Game Gear.

Maybe I should've started playing Lunar instead of Rhapsody.. oh well, too late :P.
PS: Aladdin was awesome and just assume the Lion's King VG was a director's cut of the movie.

I got my ass handed to me on that stupid Lion King game, too. Well, alright, it wasn't stupid -- that game was really fun, but holy shit it was hard when I was little. Those damn giraffe heads ...

@glipe - I didn't play it TOO long, but i thought it was fun as heck! But i was disappointed the "large boobs" feature was broken at the time ;( I always wanted to get back into it, I hear they have that demo/trial thing but I haven't tried it myself.
@Koobert - HAHAHAHA if only you knew my original Sonic image! I had rented Aladdin on the Genesis but I couldn't get into it, although I remember the graphics being really cool.
@Knives - Haha i could think of it that way. Or i could remember the time I was a few pixels off from the end of the level and I somehow dropped in the lava.. yeah not so good times.
@Pixel Blue - LOL yes! OMG i remember calling that stupid "Tip Hotline" they have on the back of the manuals for help on that level and I remember they were incredibly useless! I eventually figured it out, but holy crap haha. Stupid monkey!

Also also, I used to play a lot RO back in the days, I was a Lord Knight, but still sucked at WoE.
Also also also, don't suck!
