Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Wow. My comment is longer than your blog.
The problem is that, the thing that is supposed to be a game manual is a folded piece of paper with no pages telling about the "more convenient" in-game manual which isn't convenient for me in the slightest. Maybe it's "convenient" for Ubi-soft, but not the consumer who expects a manual when they buy a retail box.
It's a waste of time and money printing manuals now because barely anyone reads them. I could still see the case for artbooks and mini-comics being included though.
I've not read a single comment on this topic to keep manuals that wasn't solely based on nostalgia. I say it's time to move with the times.
They took away something gamers find special to save them selves a buck or two. It's a really shitty thing they've done.
Ubisofts have their reason for doing it (saving money) and I have my reasons for supporting it.
Don't get me wrong. I used to love reading manuals on the way home from town when I was a kid. The problem for me is that I spent the last 12 years working as a printer and I know damn well how shitty the chemicals used are for the environment. That's my reason for supporting it.
I do think special editions shops still have an art book.
To clarify I support my own reasons for this, not ubisofts. I may shed a nostalgic tear if everyone follows suit but I feel it's for the best.
You win.
Also, I love what you've done with using so few words to say so much.
When's the last time you've played a game that really needed one? Assassin's Creed definitely doesn't need one. They explain everything in-game.
You can relax. Video games aren't over because they aren't giving you 20 sheets of worthless paper. Save some fucking trees.
Furries or furies? I haven't seen any animal porn in here...
Anyway, the reason I hate companies doing this is because the way a lot of this paper is handled, they're not actually destroying any forests or anything like that. A friend of mine works for Xpedx, and she knows a whole lot about paper management and what's wasteful. She fully supports regular-sized manuals in games, so I've got to side with her here. I need to ask her exactly what that was about, again...
You should have realized you did NOT buy a Capcom Game.
(( Hands Down the Best Instruction Manuals in THE GALAXY! ))
Also,
I almost NEVER read them anyways. Only if i'm bored. Real Bored...
Also, Also,
Thanks for blogging about your crappy day Neonie.
