About Me

Yo. I just graduated from Syracuse University, with a major in Television/Film at the Newhouse School.

I love video games, gaming/nerd culture, examining games critically as an art form, and all the useless trivia and data surrounding games. I am a consumer whore. Gaming is obviously one of my primary hobbies, though not the only one. I'm a regular on Failcast.

I also watch anime and read manga when I get the chance. It's mostly just mainstream and shonen stuff as a result of the ease of accessibility, though I try to see some more obscure series when I get the chance.

I have epic hair.

I play bass guitar and have been in a band. It's broken up. I lived the dream.

I love rock. I tend to gravitate towards various types of punk, alternative, or indie, though I'll listen to anything. Bob Dylan rocks. Also, random weird underground stuff. The NES sound chip was amazing.

Nintendo gives out free wiimote covers because people are still retarded
Bob Muir | 10:09 PM on 10.01.2007 8 comments

Dear god. When will it end?

In case you didn't get a new strap for your Wiimote last holiday season or the new versions from just a few weeks ago, Nintendo is once again looking for ways to keep themselves from getting sued. Its latest plan involves giving out free Wii Remote Jackets, silicon covers "for people who might accidentally throw or drop their Wii Remotes while playing games." In addition to protecting it from retards, the cover also gives your wiimote a nice little afro. Those of you who actually want one of these (all three of you) can place an order with Nintendo on Oct. 2 and have it shipped on Oct. 15.

My question is this: who really cares about this "problem" any more? Any slightly intelligent gamer knows better and usually wears the strap, while the media stopped talking about it about a month after the Wii launch ended. I have yet to hear any more horror stories about broken TVs and well-deserved injuries. Who in their right mind actually needs one of these covers?

Nintendo has done alot of stuff to cover their asses from lawsuits. It's no surprise.

I'm getting mine, because they're free and because the kiddo likes running around with the Wiimote and smacking it against the walls, the table, etc... At least this way he'll do slightly less damage.
